Tabletop Fruit Press 1.25 Gallon, All Stainless

Excellent for apples or grapes, this extremely well-built 1.25 gallon press is great for smaller production quantities. The press includes an anti-rotation plate that can be screwed to your choice of surfaces; one handy approach is to screw the plate to a small sheet of plywood which can then easily be clamped to your table or other support. After the anti-rotation plate is fastened down, the main press assembly can be lifted out and replaced in a moment. After a pressing cycle, the stainless side rods flex apart at top to allow the assembly of screw yoke, forcing screw and pressing plate to be lifted out for removal of the spent apple pomace.
The tabletop press is also perfect for making nut milk including almond milk, soy milk, rice milk and coconut milk, as well as squeezing honey from the comb.
The pressing basket measures 5-3/4" x 11-1/8" high, and the pressing plate measures 5.5" diameter. Overall height of the press with the pressing screw turned down is 15", and the base plate measures 7-3/4" x 7-3/4". Handle length is 9-3/4".
The press includes a fine-mesh, food-grade nylon pressing bag that contains mash even under very high pressure. A 5/8" x 8-3/4" drain tube attaches to the drain spout of the juice tray.
Lubricating the Acme Screw
It's important to keep the acme forcing screw well lubricated with food safe grease; this greatly reduces wear and turning effort, and dramatically increases maximum pressure and juice yield.
If you ever want to press only a very small quantity of your product at a time, you can do that with this press because when fully turned down, the pressing plate reaches all the way to the pan, leaving zero gap.
Mounting screws for the anti-rotation plate are not included.

Works great for what we use it for (apple juice and hard cider) once we freeze then thaw the apples. The juices just flows out.
It is built sturdy but is difficult to hold while turning press. I should have purchased a heavier bigger model with more stability and easier turning ability.
I use the press for making herbal tinctures. It gets every last drop out of the herbs!
I found that the threading on the crank shaved as we were using it and actually wound up with some metal shavings in our pulp.
I bought this press to give to my husband as a birthday present in July. Seven long months from now. He only has a few apple trees but has wanted to make cider for several years and has never gotten around to buying a press. When I came across this press while shopping for a Christmas gift I decided to order it now and save it until then. I made my decision based on the reviews I read and I am counting on them to be honest because all the reviews I read were great. It seems to be perfect for what he wants to do and in reading the reviews I was surprised to find a recipe for almond milk. I can hardly wait to "borrow" his press and try it myself.
Updating my review from December 2016. I gave my husband his birthday present in July but of course he had to wait for his apples to ripen. He finally got to use his apple press yesterday and had a lot of fun doing it. He loves the taste of fresh apple juice and hopes to make a lot more this season.. He would love to have a motorized press and might still buy one. He finds this one a little hard to use It's a little hard to turn the crank when it gets about half way through the process. He isn't a young as he used to be. He is 77.
Sturdy and just the right size to get enough water squeezed out of the veggies for our deep fried veggie fritters. Before the press arrived, the staff was trying to do the same job by twisting the fresh grated veggies in a towel--which took 2 people a half hour and left in far too much liquid. To keep it from twisting as the screw mechanism turns, I did have to make a plywood base that can be clamped to a table or fitted inside the top edge of one of our sinks. The only concern I have is that the plastic sleeve that covers the outside seems like it may not last very long. Nevertheless, a great product at a reasonable price.
because I was unable to find a competitor for this unit. The stainless portions are high quality. It would be a better device if the whole thing were stainless. Also, the center screw could be higher quality. Under load it binds too much. I feel as though I am fighting the threads more than the material I am trying to squeeze. If there were stainless disks available to layer in with the fruit, I would buy them, even at $15/ea. As it is, I need to use only the bottom few inches because I am squeezing a dense fruit pulp. I have not tried soft fruits like apples. For me, 3 stars is a fine rating. 5 stars would really be exceptional, reserved for very few tools.
I'm impressed with the quality and workmanship. This isn't going to bend the first time you use it.
This press is beautiful. I have searched for quite some time, because in my mind I knew what I wanted and wasn't about to settle. So happy I finally found this. Construction is high quality, easy to clean and works perfectly. I would give 10 stars!
If you are juicing a small amount of fruit this works well. We used it for apples. The bolt at the base leaked. I may just need to be tightened but it wasn't enough to be a big deal.
