Skeppshult Traditional Walnut Pancake Iron, 9 inch
Cook your favorite pancake recipe on this pre-seasoned cast iron pancake iron from Skeppshult. Metal utensils and high heat are safe to use. Handle material options include beechwood or walnut wood. Iron surface is 9" diameter.
Skeppshult of Sweden manufactures artisanal cast iron cookware from strictly controlled raw materials in their factory in Småland. Made without harmful chemicals, their products have an exceptionally long life span, which explains how they can provide a 25 year cast iron warranty. Their natural and environmentally friendly cookware is made without harmful chemicals and requires little maintenance. Skeppshult cast iron is PFOA-free, PTFE-free and cadmium-free.
Skeppshult's factory operates the only remaining foundry in Scandinavia making household products in cast iron. Many phases in the manufacturing are still pure hand craftsmanship and dependent upon great professional skill. Undergoing an average of ten quality control inspections before completion, your Skeppshult cookware will withstand year after year of heavy use, metal utensils and high heat. Skeppshult pans are nearly impossible to wear out. Pre-seasoned with organic canola oil, your Skeppshult pan arrives ready to use with a natural nonstick coating.
All Skeppshult cast iron cookware performs just as well on gas, ceramic, radiant, halogen or electric ranges as well as induction heat sources. Magnetic cast iron cookware heats quickly, disperses and stores heat better than other cookware material, and works well with high heat. Thanks to these qualities, cast iron provides an excellent roasting surface.
Using the right products and traditional cooking optimizes the beneficial iron content of our food. With iron anemia a challenge for many, the best way to help yourself while cooking at home is through slow cooking in combination with foods rich in iron, such as red meat, egg yolks and dark leafy greens. Many foods such as tomatoes also help to increase your iron intake by absorbing substantial quantities of minerals from cast iron cookware. And while many makers use recycled cast iron of questionable safety, Skeppshult uses only virgin iron ore.
The bottom of each Skeppshult cookware piece has a slightly concave shape which adds stability to stovetop use and minimizes the risk of injury.
Carl E. Andersson established his foundry on the shores of the Nissan river in 1906. Much has happened since then, but Skeppshult's commitment to fine craftsmanship remains strong. In an age of mass-produced mediocrity, a Skeppshult pan is a connection to a timeless standard of excellence. A Skeppshult pan is both tool and inspiration, an investment you'll never regret.

Note: The use of wood handled cookware in the oven or over gas heat, will eventually result in a burned handle. The handle can be replaced, upon request, but replacing a handle voids warranty. |
All Skeppshult cookware comes pre-seasoned with baked-on organic canola oil, so after a quick rinse under the tap and careful drying, it's ready to use.
Use cooking oil, butter or margarine when frying/browning.
Clean your cookware as soon as possible after using it and don't let it soak in water. To clean the cookware, use only warm water and a sturdy dish brush, when possible. If soap is needed, we recommend using a mild dish soap. Cast iron products should NOT be washed in the dishwasher.
To release stuck-on food that's difficult to scrub out with just a brush, try rubbing coarse salt and water over the area, or boiling water in the pan.
After cleaning, thoroughly dry the cast iron with a towel. The pan can also be warmed on the stovetop for 1-2 minutes to make sure it's thoroughly dry. Rub a light coat of natural food-safe oil on the cast iron with a lint-free cloth, wipe out any excess oil, then store in a dry place.
Minor variations in surface texture are a hallmark of a hand-crafted product such as Skeppshult cast iron cookware, and spots or color variations on cookware bases are normal and will fade with use (click here to see example).

Top quality product, I enjoy a pancake breakfast and the Skeppshult Highline Pancake Iron is awesome. The service and shipping from Pleasant Hill Grain is first class.
The silicone handle feels great and gives you great purchase for handling the pan. It's cast iron, so fairly substantial, but the handle is long enough and angled properly to let you manage the pan on the burner.
High quality product. I use it for making dosas (Indian crepes) as well as pancakes. I've used it for over six months now, no complaints. Great product.
I'm very happy with my new pancake iron, yesterday I did my first Belgian pancakes with it and it worked great. Very good product!
This pan came so well seasoned that I was able to make Swiss crepes with absolutely no sticking the first go. That's better than my no-stick pan was! Wishing to add another to my collection. The low sides are designed perfectly with very even heat distribution. So much easier for flipping pancakes, crepes, etc!
I confess, this is not my first cast iron pancake griddle, but it is now the one I always reach for. Excellent, even heating with no sticking. Couldn’t ask for anything better. I’ll probably just give all the other brands away.
The 9 inch Skeppshult Cast Iron Pan is perfect for making Swedish pancakes. The low lip makes a large round shape easy by holding the handle and tilting it so the batter evenly coats the pan; and makes flipping easy.
Great pan
