Gaskets should be replaced periodically, as they will harden over time and stop working — which will cause seal loss, and your cooker won't work. It's easiest to order a with your cooker, so you'll have a backup. (They can also be nicked or damaged by a stove burner, etc.) Tip: When not in use, gaskets can be removed from cooker lid to maintain proper shape for longest life.
Can you use a Kuhn Rikon pressure cooker for canning? The answer is here!
With any pressure cooker, be sure to add sufficient water. Complete evaporation will spoil your food
and damage the cooker. If you want, you can keep food suspended above the water by using a trivet.

The 3.5L pressure cooker is a joy to use, being smaller and lighter than all others. I like how the smaller diameter allows for other pots to nearby on the burner while still centered over the flame. The quality is excellent, especially the steel's hardness and shininess. The quality control is excellent. Mine was perfect, and I can find flaws, expertly. The 3.5 liter size is perfect for quick and easy throw-togethers for a single person or two where you are not interested in leftovers. One caveat, if you are cooking rice using the 3 min cook-time and 7 min natural release, you'll want to adjust that. Use 5 min cook time and then 5 min natural release if using rice quantities of 1 cup or less. It's also better to weigh your water and rice using the 3: 2 ratio. Three parts water to 2 parts rice by weight. It's perfect. If you use a volume measure like cups (1/2 or 3/4) to measure your rice then you will get wetter rice. Not so good. Rice aside, this is as small as you need to go with a pressure cooker. It's just right for soups for two or just you. It comes to pressure quickly and releases naturally, rather quickly, given its lower air heat mass. (It's smaller). But really, it's not just a pressure cooker but a great pot as well. Get a clear lid for it that's 20 cm across the middle (diameter) to watch your food cook. I have the 12L, 5L, 2.5L, 3.5L, and two Fisslers. This smaller size makes it unique and downright adorable. The K-R cookers are simply the best! Get one!
When I first receive the pressure cooker the pan handle was a little loose but I checked after a use and the handle was tight it does not take long to cook meat beans and potatoes just love this cooker and glad that I purchased it even thro it was a little pricey
This is my second Kuhn Rikon pressure cooker. The best pressure cooker! Quieter than a microwave, cooks beans well, brown rice doesn't stick to pot, and when I had the first cooker, I called Kuhn Rikon to ask questions about not coming up to pressure, and they always solved my problem and followed up. Will last forever, except for changing a gasket or valve yourself every couple of years. If you're not sure of the problem or can't do it, just send the lid in, and they will do it for you at a good price.
This is the second pressure cooker I've ordered. The first was for me and the second one for a gift. I've had pressure cookers over the years and nothing compares to the Kuhn Rikon Cooker. I ordered the larger size the 7.4 quart. Makes the best mashed potatoes. Cook them in the pot, blanch them, throw them in your mixer, and they make the best mashed potatoes. We no longer bake sweet potatoes. We put in them in the pot and they are cooked evenly. This pot as many uses.
I love quality items and it's refreshing to actually get what you pay for in todays world. The 5.3L is a perfect size for daily use and the quality is evident. I highly recommend the Kuhn Rikon brand, you actually get what you pay for, a great pressure cooker.
This pressure cooker makes a very tasty broth and chili. My son is not crazy about my cooking but with this cooker he asks for the second portion. Thank you PHG for the quick shipment.
Just received it. So much smoother and more efficient than my old one. Lid opens so easily. Directions easy.
It took only twenty minutes from the time that I opened the package, to cooking with my new Kuhn Rikon. When my other brand of pressure cooker died much too soon, I replaced it with KR pressure cooker. I love the ease of cleaning and maintenance. I'm a Kuhn Rikon customer for life.
I've been making white beans and smoked ham for years, but the batch in the Kuhn Rikon Duromatic was the best I've ever made. I was pleasantly surprised at how much texture and shape the beans retained. I was made a pork roast and was surprised at how juicy and flavorful it was. I can't wait to make another dinner with this cooker.
Oh yes I bought one for me, one for each of my two daughters and one for my in-laws about 3 years ago! We have all loved them and use them several times per week! I just bout one for my sister-in-law and her family as a gift!
NO better pressure cooker exists....and getting it here it comes with free shipping and cookbooks!
