Organic Brown Basmati Rice, 40 lbs.
Our basmati rice is brown, certified organic, triple-cleaned and perfect for baking and cooking purposes.
Convenient & safe storage
Our basmati rice is certified organic and non-GMO, and comes in six-gallon buckets (or pails... another word for the same container), containing 40 lbs. net weight. When you store basmati rice at home, it needs to be protected in a couple of ways. First, it needs to be protected from a variety of little critters who'd like to get to it before you do. Weevils and rodents, for example. You also need to protect your basmati rice from picking up excessive additional moisture, which can be drawn from the atmosphere. The buckets our basmati rice comes in provide full protection against these storage risks. They have airtight gasket-sealed lids and oxygen absorber packets that remove the oxygen from the air in the bucket after we put the lid on. The O2 absorbers leave an atmosphere of nitrogen in the bucket, because air consists almost entirely of oxygen and nitrogen. (The oxygen absorber packets themselves are completely food-safe, being made of powdered iron and salt, which are kept separate from the product itself.)
Beat oxidation
In whole-grain foods, the plant's cellular walls protect nutrients from oxidation. The process of oxidation begins to occur as soon as grain is ground, exposing the cell's contents to oxygen in the air. Flour that is several days (or more) old, has been exposed to oxygen that inevitably diminishes its nutritional value. The way to get full nutrition from whole grain foods is to mill them when you need them, right in your kitchen. Modern high-speed grain mills make it fast and easy to enjoy the freshest, best tasting and most nutritious food imaginable!
Super-cleaned
All of our basmati rice is triple-cleaned to ensure purity and protect your grain mill from any foreign objects. (Basmati rice that isn't sufficiently cleaned may contain small stones that will damage or destroy a grain mill... not to mention that you don't want such things in your food!)
Shelf Life
Our organic brown basmati rice has a shelf life of 10+ years when unopened and stored in a cool, dark, dry environment.
Non-GMO
All of Pleasant Hill Grain's whole grain products are natural (non-GMO). Also, PHG does not sell any grains, beans, lentils, pulses or seeds sourced from China.
Additional Options
Pleasant Hill Grain offers over thirty kinds of whole grain products!
Our food category offers many selections of baking ingredients, delicious dried fruits and vegetables, long-term storable foods, canned meat, fish and poultry, sweeteners and more.
As a whole grains shopper you may also be interested in hand crank and electric grain mills and grain flakers as well as heavy duty Bosch mixers, Ankarsrum (formerly Electrolux), Haussler spiral dough mixers, and Famag spiral dough mixers!
Gamma Seal Lids are remarkably practical two-part gadgets that transform standard plastic buckets into rugged, gasketed, resealable storage containers that are both air-tight and water-tight.
Exceptional Value of Bulk Grain
It's well known that basic natural foods tend to be lower in cost and much higher in nutrition than processed commercial choices, but we were still a little shocked when we compared the cost of a staple like whole grain wheat, to items on the shelves at a local grocery store. Our grain comes packaged 45 lbs. to a bucket, so we're reporting each cost here, for that same net weight. The cost of living index in Nebraska is comparatively low, so processed foods like the examples shown here are priced even higher in most areas. We came away from this exercise with a heightened appreciation for the low cost and exceptional value of quality basic foods like whole grain wheat!

I was first introduced to Organic Basmati Rice in the 1980s during a Zen Macrobiotic Cooking Class. Since then I've been completely committed to the perfect grain, whole rice. I buy my whole rice from Pleasant Hill because safe healthy food isn't an accident, it's a commitment from the farm to my dinner table. The tub/bucket is an engineered guarantee that I will always have a fresh clean carbohydrate for any and every meal I plan. Rice (and especially Pleasant Hill's organic rice is the perfect food with a pH value of seven that matches the seven pH value of the human body. Stored in its original bucket the rice will literally last a lifetime. I'm not a scientist nor a nutritionist. I'm just a great-grandmother who wants her family to eat clean safe food and that means setting the example. It's not easy in today's world to maintain a commitment to reading labels and shopping for the best sources available but it's worth the time and effort especially since I found Pleasant Hill five years ago.
I've been eating, purchasing organic brown basmati rice for years... 30-plus years. Rice at our home is eaten almost every day. I have purchased in bulk from different companies and have many times been disappointed. So decided to give Pleasant Hill Grain a try, when I opened the bucket I was pleased just the way it looked, steamed up some immediately, just the old way, with a stainless steel kettle, which is how I always make it. I loved it, cooked up beautifully and flavor was the best I have ever purchased, and love that it is organic, an important factor for me. Very pleased, I have told others about Pleasant Hill Grain. Thank you!
We received the order quickly and in good shape. We have not opened it up, as it was purchased for long term storage as a food reserve. We are pleased to have found Pleasant Hill Grain.
I've been buying organic grains from Pleasant Hill for years and I have never been disappointed in quality or delivery time.
The product is always fresh, great quality, and good-tasting. Most importantly... Organic. Even when one of our orders was delayed, we never had to call or follow up. Pleasant Hill kept in touch and kept us in the loop. We appreciated that!
We buy all of our bulk grains from Pleasant Hill Grain. Wonderful quality every time.
Good tasting clean rice, well worth the price.
Good product. Packaged well for long term storage.
The basmati rice arrived quickly and was packaged well. We are confident, because of previous purchases with Pleasant Hill Grain, that our rice will be tasty and wholesome when we open the bucket - even I that happens years from now.
I love the fragrance of basmati rice. it is a weekly staple for me. The buckets allow me to share with family and it stays fresh a long time. Environmentally, it is harvested from the U.S. so no overseas transportation needed and not divided into smaller sizes with lots of packaging that will end up in the landfill.
That is important to me.
