I simply can not use a 40 pound container. I have only myself to feed and my eating habits are not what they were when I was young. The sample packages work well but they are expensive to buy considering shipping costs. Perhaps you could make 2 or 3 pound samplers?

The quality of the sorghum grain is exceptional! Whether call in as I did my first time, or order online, it's easy and efficient either way. Customer service is absolutely great. Good grain

Ordered 1 lb sample of brown rice. Very good rice but pretty expensive to try as I didn't want a large amount if it didn't satisfy or match its promised advertising. It did match its promised advertising and satisfy, so I have now ordered a 40# bucket. Very good service and price for 40# bucket. It's good to find a place that is honest and provides what they promise.

Way Overpriced

The beans were fine, but 300-400% more expensive than any other black organic beans, and unfortunately no information was given where they were produced. I thought they were grown right there at the farm, but I don't think so. I was just trying to avoid beans from China, sold by Whole Foods.

Moderator : Wojtek: We don't sell many sample packages, and when one is ordered, mostly you're paying for the cost of shipping and handling. Most of our customers order in the bucket quantity, and then of course the price is FAR less. Glad you liked the beans! They aren't from China.

whole-grain rice often rancid in grocery stores as well

brown rice sample arrived racnid. whole grain rice, however, is well-known to go rancid quickly and is very hard to keep sweet, which is my reason for ordering the sample instead of a bucket full. i have been ordering from pleasant hill grain for 7 or so years and the wheat, kamut, spelt, oats, millet, rye, and corn have all been A+. the grain has been immaculately clean and well packaged in the buckets and has kept very well at room temperatures. i expect to keep happily ordering grain from PHG i received an immediate refund for the rice. customer service is always excellent. great folks at PHG!

Purchased two 1lb samples (Spelt, Kamut). They arrived the same week in vacuum sealed bags. The grains are impeccable. I have never bought loose grains that were so clean. After millling a handful of each, you could smell the heavenly nutty aroma of each one. Made bread with each milled sample added to the regular flour and produced winner loaves! Will certainly buy from Pleasant Grain again!
