The Roots & Harvest chicken plucker is a powerful and quick way to de-feather chickens, ducks, geese, hens, and waterfowl. With the 1.2 HP waterproof motor you can process each bird in just 30 seconds! The tub is made of 403 stainless steel, for construction that will last for years. The large 20" diameter tub features 92 rubber fingers that quickly and efficiently processes large birds, or 2-4 small birds at once. Feathers will fall out of the tub, collect in the base, and then be forced out the chute. Three legs provides sturdy support, and the wheels make it easy to transport the plucker.

Care Instructions

Use a garden hose to spray the tub and flush out the feathers.

Use Instructions

To use, scald bird in 150° F water for 1-2 minutes. You may want to mix soap with the scalding water to make the oil on the bird's feathers break down more easily (this will also allow the hot water to better penetrate the bird's skin). Press the start button on the chicken plucker power switch and put up to 16 lbs. of birds into the plucker. (Birds weighing more than 8 lbs. each should not be put into the plucker.) Spray the bird(s) with water from a hose while they’re in the plucker; this will help the feathers off more easily. Let the machine process until the feathers are removed. A properly scalded bird will pluck in about 15-30 seconds. Turn the chicken plucker off when finished. DO NOT retrieve bird until the plucker has come to a complete stop. Unplug the plucker when you're finished using it.
