Has it been a while since you replaced your cooker's gasket? Gaskets need to be replaced periodically, as they harden over time and stop sealing, which causes pressure loss. It’s a gradual process that’s easy to overlook, but performance declines and before long your cooker won’t work at all. It's a good idea to keep a backup gasket on hand too, in case yours gets nicked or damaged by a stove burner, etc. You'll find all Kuhn Rikon gaskets on this page. Another crucial part that requires periodic replacement is the UL/SI valve. You don't need to replace it until it starts losing pressure, but once it does, performance will go downhill fast. For this reason, we recommend replacing the UL/SI valve at least every 3-4 years. You'll find the Kuhn Rikon UL/SI valve here.

My Pressure Cooker is Like New!

I love that Pleasant Hill Grain offers replacement parts for my pressure cooker. The valve fit my 3.5L anniversary edition Kuhn Rikon pressure cooker perfectly and was very simple to install. There is a video online from Kuhn Rikon (on YouTube) explaining repair and maintenance that was very easy to follow along with. I also replaced the UL/SI valve at the same time and replaced the gasket. After changing out the valves, and gasket, I did a test run with 1 cup of water brought to pressure, and then allowed to naturally release. My pressure cooker came to pressure faster and held pressure at a lower burner setting than it has in a while. It’s like a whole new pressure cooker!

My two Kuhn Rikon pressure cookers are used very regularly and I have had them for many years because thankfully, Pleasant Hill Grain carry a wide range of spare parts. Small valve rescues a 20 year old pressure cooker

Our faithful old pressure cooker wasn’t able to create enough pressure to cook our artichokes. We fiddled with the valve, we got a new gasket and finally turned to Pleasant Hill Grain to send us a replacement. We feared the part wouldn’t be available. The representative was pleasant and efficient. In no time at all he found the part and arranged to send it to us right away.

There was a video on their website that showed us how to replace the valve. It worked! Now our pressure cooker is working again and we don’t have to purchase a new, expensive new pressure cooker.
