This press doesn't have the basket lift mechanism.
Commercial quality, larger-capacity presses: Whether you have a few apple trees or a larger orchard or vineyard, the Glenwood apple cider presses provide the top quality construction and superior design features you need. The Glenwood cider presses feature the same extremely stout construction quality as our Maximizer presses, and adds a basket swing-out feature that lets you dump spent pulp out the bottom of the basket. The frame of the Glenwood apple presses have the strength to withstand tremendous pressure, and the acme-threaded forcing screw and solid ratchet mechanism make it easy to create that pressure. The Glenwood presses let you quickly and easily develop pressures that will send other presses to the scrap heap. Higher pressure = higher juice yields and more production in less time.
Fast tip-off design: With the pull of a single pin, the upper yoke of the Glenwood tips fully out of your way for full basket loading-and-unloading access. The speed and convenience of this design makes the pressing operation fast and easy.
Best materials: A frame made of 3/16" wall thickness steel tubing combines with a solid oak pressing basket and stainless steel pan to make the Glenwood apple cider presses you'll enjoy using for many years. The Glenwood presses arrive assembled except for the simple operation of bolting legs on.
Basket Swing feature: The Glenwood oak basket fruit presses feature an integrated basket swing-out mechanism to speed dumping of the spent fruit pulp.
New Fast Retract feature: The Glenwood presses now feature a very handy Fast Retract spinner knob. After
the juice has been squeezed from a batch of fruit and the forcing screw has been ratcheted backward a
few strokes to relieve pressure, the Fast Retract knob lets you spin the forcing screw and pressing plate
back up to the top of the basket much faster than would be possible with the long handle.
For more details please see the specs tab, above.
The press arrives assembled except for the simple operation of bolting legs on. The Maximizer grinder is not included.
The wood parts of the Glenwood presses arrive pre-sealed. For future maintenance, we offer EZ-DO food-safe wood sealer.

I am an engineer and very sensitive to the quality of engineering designs. However, without much experience using cider presses I could only analyze the available data and had to rely heavily on others with experience. I read many reviews and asked lots of questions. After narrowing the choices down to just a few, I contacted the suppliers to ask some final questions and discovered only one supplier (Pleasant Hill) had actually prepared their staff by giving them hands-on experience with the products they sell. I was fortunate to reach their service rep, Barbara. She was well informed and answered all my questions about their many cider presses to my satisfaction. However, she went one step further and, understanding my requirements, made a couple of very valuable suggestions based upon her product knowledge and personal experience. She recommended this (Glenwood) cider press over another in their inventory because of a couple of convenient features that we would benefit from. Ultimately, we took her recommendations and found the integrated speed knob on the press hub to be a fantastic feature. Also, the built-in mounting provision (GSAM) for the apple grinder was extremely useful because, in the end, we also purchased the Maximizer apple grinder. Barbara's insightful recommendations saved us much valuable time and effort. So why only 4 stars? A minor fabrication error... one of the 4 press legs was ~1/4" shorter and had to be shimmed to make the press sit flat.
We're pressing beets for beet syrup, a process that requires high heat and pressure. With the high heat, wood basket slats of other units would swell to the point the gaps closed, stopping extraction. With its stainless basket, stainless tray along with all its other features, this press turns an arduous job into an awesome family time together. Thanks for a very superior product that no one will ever regret buying!
Thanks so much for handling my issue with the threaded shaft on the apple crusher. The new one got here within a couple days and fit perfect. I sure enjoy my press, I've done a pickup load of apples and made about 20 gallons of cider already. I look forward to getting a few more items for next years apple harvest from you folks.
Thanks again,
Leo from Whitefish Montana
Hope there is good service out of pleasant hill
my 6 year grandson loved pressing the apples
As advertised, it worked like a charm. We had never used an apple press before an we ended up with wonderful juice.
Very well made. The legs need to be 6" longer to put a 5 gallon bucket under the drain. I also added a bolt on plate so I can use a 1/2" square drive instead of the furnished handle
This is our first press. We were looking for one that would hold up for a long time, and had the features that we were looking for. The Glenwood press had it all and more. It is very strong and well built. We like the fact that the top is removable so you can crush fruit right into the press. It has 4 legs instead of 3. The bonuses are the speed handle on top the screw, and the swing away basket, and it comes with a swing away platform for your crusher. Even with the extra parts on it, cleanup is easy. We think for the price this is a great press.
If my review was based solely on the apple cider that was produced I would give the Glenwood apple press with apple grinder attachment 5 stars, easily. However, a couple of marks against it: 1st, my husband (a very handy, tool-savvy guy) and my father-in-law (king of assembling toys after 5 kids of his own) found the directions and diagrams for assembly almost impossible to use. We had a few hardware pieces missing which necessitated a run to the local hardware store plus a lot of good old-fashioned trial and error. They were extremely frustrated by the time they were done, which took a lot of enjoyment from the whole process. 2nd, the pine wood hopper attachment, while making it much easier to load the grinder, was shoddy material, which split the very first use! The company fantastically engineered the machine to last a lifetime with stainless steel and heavy duty construction, but cheaped out on this particular part. Very disappointing. Otherwise, the machine worked as designed, and produced great cider. My husband only suggested that the large pin that holds the press plate arm in place had a cotter pin to keep it in place while working the machine—ours rattled out once or twice. The family had a great time making the cider and enjoying the fruits of their labor (pun intended
I received my press right on time and in good condition. Very easy to put on the legs, hardware, nuts and bolts were intact in the packaging and of good quality. I opted for the Maximizer which fit well, I did put on larger washers on the 4 bolts otherwise it fit perfect. Added washers and grease to the wooden handle and it performs well. A bolt with wing nut and washer was provided to lock down the Maximizer to the frame, I opted for a smooth pin with an automatic ball or pinless locking device so its faster to pull the pin to swing out the Maximizer.
I really like that parts can be un-pinned to lighten the whole unit for moving. I also added stainless steel fishing leaders to secure the ratchet pawl and the other cinch pin I added so I don't lose them during production. I might suggest the flywheel for the Maximizer be packed horizontally instead of vertically as some paint was chipped on the outer circumference probably because during shipment it wore through the packing. This I touched up with several layers of finger nail polish and its now sealed and in fine order now.
I'm very impressed with the quality, fit and finish and I'm now all assembled and ready for the harvest.
