Organic Clear Hilum Soybeans, 40 lbs.
Our soybeans are certified organic, triple-cleaned and perfect for making tofu, soymilk, tempeh, and more.
Convenient & safe storage
Our Clear Hilum soybeans are certified organic and non-GMO, and come in six-gallon buckets (or pails... another word for the same container), containing 40 lbs. net weight. When you store soybeans at home, they need to be protected in a couple of ways. First, they need to be protected from a variety of little critters who'd like to get to it before you do. Weevils and rodents, for example. You also need to protect your bulk soybeans from picking up excessive additional moisture, which can be drawn from the atmosphere. The buckets our organic soybeans come in provide full protection against these storage risks. They have airtight gasket-sealed lids, Mylar liners, and oxygen absorber packets that remove the oxygen from the air in the bucket after we put the lid on. The O2 absorbers leave an atmosphere of nitrogen in the bucket, because air consists almost entirely of oxygen and nitrogen. (The oxygen absorber packets themselves are completely food-safe, being made of powdered iron and salt, which are kept separate from the product itself.) Our buckets safely lock out pests, and biological processes are put "on hold" in the Mylar protected, oxygen-free nitrogen atmosphere, so your bulk soybeans enjoy complete peace until you want to use it, even if that’s ten or twenty years from now.
Super-cleaned
All of our bulk soybeans are triple-cleaned to ensure purity and protect your grain mill from any foreign objects. (Soybeans that aren't sufficiently cleaned may contain small stones that will damage or destroy a grain mill... not to mention that you don't want such things in your food!)
Non-GMO
All of Pleasant Hill Grain's whole food products are natural (non-GMO). Also, PHG does not sell any grains, beans, lentils, pulses or seeds sourced from China.
Shelf Life
Our organic soybeans have a shelf life of 3 years when unopened and stored in a cool, dark, dry environment.

Exceptional Value of Bulk Grain
It's well known that basic natural foods tend to be lower in cost and much higher in nutrition than processed commercial choices, but we were still a little shocked when we compared the cost of a staple like whole grain wheat, to items on the shelves at a local grocery store. Our grain comes packaged 45 lbs. to a bucket, so we're reporting each cost here, for that same net weight. The cost of living index in Nebraska is comparatively low, so processed foods like the examples shown here are priced even higher in most areas. We came away from this exercise with a heightened appreciation for the low cost and exceptional value of quality basic foods like whole grain wheat!

I make Japanese Natto for my husband. Natto is a natural blood clot preventer made with fermented soybeans. I ferment 16 cups of soybeans every six weeks. They have to be organic so they were not GMO. I've been using Pleasant Hill Grain's organic soybeans for around five years. They have the best deal and I trust them.
Compared to another brand I thought I was sold on that was non-gmo but not organic, these soybeans are so much better: a bit of a darker hue, very slightly smaller, but most importantly "more tender. " What I mean by that is, they readily soak up the soaking water and readily give up their skins before blending; to the touch are simply more tender. It's like when you touch one of these and one of the others, you can tell these will be more easily digestible. When I teach soy milk making I have my students touch these beans and also handle the other beans both dry and after soaking and they can readily see the difference. I am so grateful to Pleasant Hill for maintaining quality with soybeans in an era that regards them as animal feed. Thank you!
Great organic soybeans! The soymilk and tofu I made had a clean, fresh taste!
I make Natto (fermented soybeans) for my husband and I and this was the best price I found. I have been buying them from Pleasant Hill Grain several years and they always arrive very quickly.
Pleasant Hills 1st time customer. 25 lbs arrived fast in quality package. I'm a newbie making at natto..best food source of K2(MK-7) which we need to take with our D3! Food source or supplement a must. Your clean little beans made the creamiest wonderful natto! Soaked/rinsed the beans overnight then pressure cooked, skins separated readily. Thank goodness I found you & thank you for being mindful by providing organic/non-GMO affordably!
The Pleasant Hill organic soy beans plump up 25% larger than other organic soy beans at the local store, and they produce minimal bean-like aroma. The first time I soaked them, they were so large, I wondered if I soaked white navy beans by mistake.
They produce a soy milk that is mild and creamy with a much fresher okara (soy pulp) that works wonderfully in recipes. The soy milk is great for breakfast cereal, and it replaces dairy milk easily in recipes without the adjustments needed from local store organic soy beans.
The bag warns that there may be foreign material, which is a concern for milling. Though the soy beans are very clean, and only need a quick inspection before milling. Please also consider sealing them in multiple Mylar bags, and storing them in a Gamma seal bucket for protection and easy access.
It' an excellent quality soybean with a reasonable price. This is second time I am ordering and I appreciate their kind service. The shipping was fast too. I trust U. S. grown organic products and this is it.
I ordered the soybeans because the organic markets that I go to did not carry them. The soybeans are in very good quality and I've been eating them for almost 9 months. I use it mainly to make soy milk and soy pancake. The price seem reasonable and I feel I can trust this company for the product.
The best soy bean! We've bought them from Pleasant Hill for four years. We use them for miso and it's been best miso taste ever!
The soybeans were fresh and clean. They make great soy milk and soy yogurt. Will continue to get them at this site.
