Soybeans, Organic 25 Lb. Bag

From $85.12

Organic Clear Hilum Soybeans, 25 lbs.

Our soybeans are certified organic, triple-cleaned and perfect for making tofu, soymilk, tempeh, and more.

Convenient & safe storage

Our Clear Hilum soy beans are certified organic and non-GMO, and come in heavy duty multi-ply paper bags. Each bag is shipped inside a cardboard box. Each bag contains 25 lbs. net weight of organic soybeans. Stored at room temperature, they have a shelf life of three years. We recommend transferring them after purchase to a pest-proof container such as a plastic bucket equipped with a resealable Gamma Lid.

Super-cleaned

All of our bulk soybeans are triple-cleaned to ensure purity and protect your grain mill from any foreign objects. (Soybeans that aren't sufficiently cleaned may contain small stones that will damage or destroy a grain mill... not to mention that you don't want such things in your food!)

Non-GMO

All of Pleasant Hill Grain's whole food products are natural (non-GMO). Also, PHG does not sell any grains, beans, lentils, pulses or seeds sourced from China.

SoyaJoy G5 Soy Milk Maker

The SoyaJoy™ G5 Soy Milk Maker is designed based on over 20 years experience with the best-selling SoyaJoy and subsequent soy milk maker models. The SoyaJoy G5 not only retains all tried and true features of the earlier SoyaJoy G3, but also adds great new features and functions, including a thermaplastic outer shell to keep the soymilk maker cool to the touch. Recent medical studies have shown that the components of the soybean are highly valuable in the fight against cancer, high cholesterol, osteoporosis and the symptoms of menopause. The new SoyaJoy G5 lets you harness these benefits easily and economically. The SoyaJoy G5 also makes nut milks, including almond milk!

The G5 includes all the key features of earlier models, and adds the patented Precision Grinding Funel (PGFTM) for super fine grinding and high milk yield. This increase grinding power but not the noise. The G5 also adds an LED display showing which cycle is at work and how much time is remaining.

SoyaJoy’s long experience with three prior generations of SoyaJoy soy milk makers has been pre-programmed into the five one-button functions, which enable the microprocessor and the sensors to continuously monitor and control the grinding and heating process to make perfect milks, soups, or porridges. Just add the ingredients and water and press one of the function buttons. The machine will do the rest and beep to let you know it's done!

With the SoyaJoy G5 soy milk machine you can enjoy this delicious nutritional powerhouse quickly and easily. It makes soymilk so economically that you'll be able to make all you want without concern for the cost. To make 1.5 quarts you will only need 1/2 cup of dry soybeans. With the amazing savings compared to commercially produced soy milk, the SoyaJoy G5 will pay for itself very quickly, then continue to pay savings dividends for years.

Temperature-controlled soaking, grinding, and cooking cycles are coordinated by three sensors. The temperature sensor allows optimal temperatures for each phase of the process. Hot soaking is at an optimal 180 degrees F, which eliminates "beany" taste without overcooking the soybeans. Similarly, grinding is best from 180 to 190 degrees, and cooking must be done at between 200 - 210 degrees to ensure the inactivation of the natural enzyme inhibitors present in soybeans. Without a temperature sensor, a machine would either overcook the beans at the hot soaking and grinding phases, or undercook at the cooking phase.

Solid-state electronic controls replaced the traditional relay controls for superior reliability and service life. Additionally, they reduces the operation noise level to seamlessly integrate the SoyaJoy G5 into your kitchen.

Package includes a measuring cup, detachable cord, user manual with recipes, and a sieve.

Capacity: 1.7 quarts, will make two batches before cool-down.

Bean by Bean: A Cookbook
Has there ever been a more generous ingredient than the bean? Down-home, yet haute, soul-satisfyingly hearty, valued, versatile, deeply delectable, healthful, and inexpensive to boot, there’s nothing a bean can’t do—and there doesn't seem to be anything that Bean by Bean author Crescent Dragonwagon can’t do with beans! From old friends like chickpeas and pintos to rediscovered heirloom beans like rattlesnake beans and teparies, from green beans and fresh shell beans to peanuts, lentils, and peas, Bean by Bean is the definitive cookbook on beans. Its 175+ recipes are a cornucopia of valuable information, kitchen wisdom, lore, anecdotes, and a zest for good food and good times.

Consider the lentil, to take one example. Discover it first in a delicious Lentil Tapenade recipe, then in half a dozen soups including Sahadi’s Lebanese Lentil Soup with Spinach, Kerala-Style Dahl, and Crescent’s Very, Very Best Lentil, Mushroom & Barley Soup. It then turns up in Marinated Lentils De Puy with Greens, Baked Beets, Oranges & Walnuts. Plus there’s Jamaica Jerk-Style Lentil-Vegetable Patties, Ethiopian Lentil Stew, and Lentil-Celeriac Skillet Sauce. Do the same for black beans—from Tex-Mex Frijoles Dip to Feijoada Vegetariana to Maya’s Magic Black Beans with Eggplant & Royal Rice. Or shell beans—Newly Minted Puree of Fresh Favas, Baked Limas with Rosy Sour Cream, Edamame in a Pod. And on and on—from starters and soups to dozens of entrees. Even desserts: Peanut Butter Cup Brownies and Red Bean Ice Cream.

Tabletop Fruit Press 1.25 Gallon, All Stainless

Excellent for apples or grapes, this extremely well-built 1.25 gallon press is great for smaller production quantities. The press includes an anti-rotation plate that can be screwed to your choice of surfaces; one handy approach is to screw the plate to a small sheet of plywood which can then easily be clamped to your table or other support. After the anti-rotation plate is fastened down, the main press assembly can be lifted out and replaced in a moment. After a pressing cycle, the stainless side rods flex apart at top to allow the assembly of screw yoke, forcing screw and pressing plate to be lifted out for removal of the spent apple pomace.

The tabletop press is also perfect for making nut milk including almond milk, soy milk, rice milk and coconut milk, as well as squeezing honey from the comb.

The pressing basket measures 5-3/4" x 11-1/8" high, and the pressing plate measures 5.5" diameter. Overall height of the press with the pressing screw turned down is 15", and the base plate measures 7-3/4" x 7-3/4". Handle length is 9-3/4".

The press includes a fine-mesh, food-grade nylon pressing bag that contains mash even under very high pressure. A 5/8" x 8-3/4" drain tube attaches to the drain spout of the juice tray.

If you ever want to press only a very small quantity of your product at a time, you can do that with this press because when fully turned down, the pressing plate reaches all the way to the pan, leaving zero gap.

Mounting screws for the anti-rotation plate are not included.

Food-Safe Bucket, 5 Gallon, set of 6

The buckets listed here are heavy duty (90 mil thickness) and are made with food-safe plastics and food-safe colors. The buckets are all BPA-free. They come without lids. For our grain-storing customers, a five gallon bucket holds 37-38 lbs. of wheat.

Choose a set of six in any color, or as a set containing one of each color.

Many of our bucket customers also LOVE reusable, screw-on, gasketed Gamma Bucket Lids!

Gamma Seal Lid, 12 Inch, Set of 3

This remarkably practical two-part gadget transforms a standard plastic bucket into a rugged, gasketed, resealable storage container that's both air-tight. Just snap the outer ring down onto your bucket. The threaded lid turns easily with molded-in grip bars. These lids are heavy duty for years and years of service. The ring has a polymer gasket where it sits against the lid of your bucket, and the threaded lid has another polymer gasket, giving the container an air-tight seal that excludes not only such freeloaders as mice and insects, but moisture too.

The Gamma Seal lid transforms an ordinary bucket into the ideal storage vault for an endless list of materials from grain and other foods to laundry products, pet food, tools, documents, silk ties, lawn and garden products, bait, seeds, oil, disaster supplies... and on and on. They also make lightweight, super-strong totes for camping gear. And did we mention that they're stackable? Our customers come back for more of these. (Make your life easier by ordering a few more the first time!)

All Gamma Lid plastics are food safe, including "heavy-metal-free" pigment in the colored lids, and all Gamma products are BPA-free. Gamma Seal lids do not include the bucket. Please note that color tint of plastic buckets can vary, so Gamma Lid colors may not perfectly match with the color of any given plastic buckets.

These 12" Gamma Seal lids fit 3-1/2 gallon or 5 gallon or 6 gallon buckets with standard top outside diameter of 11-3/4" to 12-1/8". If you want to use Gamma Seal Lids on buckets you already have, be sure your bucket tops have an outside diameter that falls within that range. (The buckets offered by Pleasant Hill Grain all have the proper top diameters to accept their respective size of Gamma Seal Lid.)

To install we recommend a large rubber mallet, or lay a 2x4 across the lid and strike with any heavy hammer. If a lid ring doesn't want to start on a bucket easily, submerging the ring or bucket rim (or both) in hot water will ease the connection.

Lids are sold in sets of three of each color. Colors include white, black, green, yellow, red, blue, and orange.

Note: If using oxygen absorbers in plastic buckets, you need to use standard hammer-on lids (not Gamma Lids). Gamma Lids are airtight, but are not designed to counteract the force of pressure that's created when all of the oxygen in the container is removed by oxygen absorbers. Once the standard lid is initially removed to start using the contents, a Gamma Lid can be used to re-seal the bucket against moisture, rodents and insects. A quality bucket and hammer-on gasketed lid will provide a fully adequate oxygen barrier for at least a couple years of storage. For even longer term oxygen-free storage, inside your buckets you can also use Mylar liner bags which, when heat-sealed shut around your food, will effectively block oxygen permeation for years and years.

Bucket Lid Wrench

Don't be afraid of the plastic construction of this handy lid removal tool. We've used them for years here at PHG. They work great and we've never had one break.

Overall length of the tool is 8.25".

Note: Some bucket lids have several points around their lower lip that must be snipped with a cutting tool prior to removal. No matter what sort of tool you use to pry the lid off, if you're working with that sort of lid then it is indeed necessary to snip the lid at those points, first. Such "snip points" vary in appearance and may or may not be marked with words like "Cut Here" or with a scissors symbol. Another type of lid has a circumferential "tear strip" around its bottom edge. With such lids you may not need a lid removal wrench to use after pulling the tear-strip away, but one can be helpful to those with hand weakness due to arthritis or other reasons.

Had to be organic
By Memorie S. in AR on 10/31/2016 Verified Buyer

I make Japanese Natto for my husband. Natto is a natural blood clot preventer made with fermented soybeans. I ferment 16 cups of soybeans every six weeks. They have to be organic so they were not GMO. I've been using Pleasant Hill Grain's organic soybeans for around five years. They have the best deal and I trust them.

Soybeans the best!
By Rebecca L. in CA on 4/24/2016 Verified Buyer

Compared to another brand I thought I was sold on that was non-gmo but not organic, these soybeans are so much better: a bit of a darker hue, very slightly smaller, but most importantly "more tender. " What I mean by that is, they readily soak up the soaking water and readily give up their skins before blending; to the touch are simply more tender. It's like when you touch one of these and one of the others, you can tell these will be more easily digestible. When I teach soy milk making I have my students touch these beans and also handle the other beans both dry and after soaking and they can readily see the difference. I am so grateful to Pleasant Hill for maintaining quality with soybeans in an era that regards them as animal feed. Thank you!

Soaks 25% larger with a fresh taste and minimal bean-like aroma
By Julie D. in CO on 9/29/2018 Verified Buyer

The Pleasant Hill organic soy beans plump up 25% larger than other organic soy beans at the local store, and they produce minimal bean-like aroma. The first time I soaked them, they were so large, I wondered if I soaked white navy beans by mistake.

They produce a soy milk that is mild and creamy with a much fresher okara (soy pulp) that works wonderfully in recipes. The soy milk is great for breakfast cereal, and it replaces dairy milk easily in recipes without the adjustments needed from local store organic soy beans.

The bag warns that there may be foreign material, which is a concern for milling. Though the soy beans are very clean, and only need a quick inspection before milling. Please also consider sealing them in multiple Mylar bags, and storing them in a Gamma seal bucket for protection and easy access.

Healthy Choice!
By Joy L. in CA on 4/13/2016 Verified Buyer

I ordered the soybeans because the organic markets that I go to did not carry them. The soybeans are in very good quality and I've been eating them for almost 9 months. I use it mainly to make soy milk and soy pancake. The price seem reasonable and I feel I can trust this company for the product.
