Nesco FD-1010 Dehydrator

American Harvest/Nesco's most powerful dehydrator! Comes with 4 trays, each 1 sq. foot, expandable to 30 trays for huge 30 square feet of food drying area! Combination of large, quiet, 4.5-inch fan, 2400 rpm motor and 1000 watt heater lets you dry food gently in hours instead of days. Temperature is adjustable between 95° and 160° F., and this dehydrator air pressure adjusts automatically to number of trays used.
With so much expandability, the American Harvest is the most popular of our food dehydrator models among people who use their dehydrators a lot.
Patented Dehydrator Airflow: The American Harvest dehydrator's double outside wall design provides fresh air equally to every tray, eliminating tray rotation and flavor-sharing. Its opaque Vita-Save Exterior blocks light to preserve all the goodness in your food.
Included with American Harvest Dehydrator: 4 drying trays, plus 1 mesh screen, plus 1 fruit leather/jerky sheet.
Food contact parts of the American Harvest/Nesco dehydrator are dishwasher safe and BPA-free.
The FD-1010 measures 15.25" dia. x 13.5" high (with 4 trays.)
The FD-1010 model is the same as the FD-1018A model, except the 1010 comes with fewer trays, mesh sheets and fruit leather sheets.

I love to dehydrate my fresh chicken eggs..... a great way to assure we have enough in the winter when hens lay fewer eggs. Lightly mix 4 first-day eggs per solid sheet and carefully spread evenly. Use only 4 sheets per drying time. Dehydrate fresh eggs until totally dry (about 8 hours or more). Then pulse in blender a few times and store in sterilized quart jar. All steps need to be as clean as possible.
A 1:1 ratio of water to dried eggs works well. For large eggs use 1 and 1/2 Tablespoons of both dried egg and water.

Does what it's supposed too. I use it mainly to make jerky. I'd recommend this product to anyone looking for a quality dehydrator that doesn't break the bank.
The American Harvest 1018 is a great machine for first time users. Love the stackable trays. It comes with a recipe book that was really handy. I would recommend for anyone looking to invest without spending a lot of money.
I dehydrate all of our meals for backpacking; breakfast quiche, minestrone soup, chili, spaghetti sauce, pineapple, cantaloupe, you name it. I bought this second dehydrator for our summer house to take advantage of all the fresh produce in Colorado.
I've bought three of these over the years. They serve very well for drying all fruits, veggies and herbs. And the folks at Pleasant Hill Grains are very friendly and helpful. They will give you as much individualized attention as you need to be satisfied.
Very Happy with the unit made several batches of deer jerky already. Unit has good heat/fan power, more then my older units. I like that unit comes with 8 trays. Only issue is this unit is bigger diameter than my older unit and trays wont fit in dishwasher for easy cleaning. But really like the product. Cant wait to dry some fruits and pumpkin seeds next year. Won't take as long for making jerky as some other machines.
The Nesco FD-1018A is by far the best dehydrator I've ever owned, regardless of price.
We're drying apples with trays stacked 16 high and they dry as fast and evenly as if we only had a few trays.
I've been drying chiles and tomatoes for years, in a very kludgy homemade dehydrator. It was always a race between getting them dry and keeping them from getting moldy.
Not a problem now. This dehydrator does everything I want it to. Experimenting with sprouted grains, fruit leathers, and can't wait to see what this thing does with a belly full of chiles.
This is a tad larger diameter than the other Nesco dehydrators... which is very nice. We have a couple other smaller ones so we’re hoping to use their trays on this one, but they won’t work. Not a huge issue, just a disappointment.
This model is awesome! Love that the base is metal! The books that come with are are super helpful. It’s doing a better job than the smaller models.
