Nesco FD-1040 Digital Dehydrator
The FD-1040 American Harvest/Nesco dehydrator comes with 4 trays, each 1 sq. foot, expandable to 20
trays for large 20 square feet of food drying area! Combination of large, quiet, 4.5" fan, 2400 rpm motor
and 1000 watt heater lets you dry food gently in hours instead of days. Temperature is adjustable between
95° and 160° F. Air pressure adjusts automatically to number of trays used. Measures 15.25" dia. x 10.25"
high (with four trays). Adjustable timer can be set for up to 48 hours of drying time.
Top-mounted fan and heater are ideal for drying wetter foods. This design prevents liquids from ever
dripping into the motor or heater. Makes cleanup easy!

Great for making fruit rolls for the kids and for other messy foods. Exclusive "no spill" lip allows you to dry liquids and semi-liquids. Dry up to 3 cups of pureed fruit on each sheet. Make fruit leather with no added sugar or preservatives. It's as easy as pouring applesauce on the Fruit Roll Sheet. Also great to dry soups and sauces.
Outside diameter is 13.75 inches and the diameter of the inside hole is 2.87 inches. Fits FD-1000 series Nesco/American Harvest and Open Country dehydrators with trays that have an outside diameter of 15.5 inches including the FD-1010 and FD-1018A. These round sheets can also be used in the square FD-80 series dehydrators.
When drying any sweet fruit, either on standard trays or fruit leather trays, release will be improved by drying your food thoroughly, then letting it cool fully to room temperature before removing from the tray or sheet. For particularly sweet fruits such as berries, strawberries or apples (as well as anything you add sugar to), further cooling in the fridge can also be a big help.

Flexible screens make sticky foods easier to remove. Screen flexes for easy removal of sticky fruits like pineapple. Use these screens with the "rough" side up. For super-sticky foods, cool in refrigerator to ease removal.
The screens are also perfect for drying small items like spices and herbs that would normally fall through holes in the tray.

I've been using this dehydrator for over a year and it far exceeds my expectations. I've dried tomatoes, celery, peppers, apples, peaches, squash, zucchini, flowers, carrots and anything else I can think of. My only regret is that I have not ordered additional trays.
Very good quality just an all around good product.
Basically wanted it to dehydrate nuts that were soaked in a sea salt solution and it works fine. I do need purchase some more trays and some mesh liners. Some of the nuts fall in between the regular tray bottoms, so I line with parchment paper, don't know that that is ok, but works. Next order, I'm adding on some 2 more trays and 4 mesh liners.
Have been using this product for years and expanded it a few years ago with more trays. I use it primarily for drying sprouted wheat berries.
This is my second dehydrator from Nesco. The first (model FD 1010) was over 20 years old, so I'd say sure got my moneys worth. I see the same quality in my recent purchase of the FD1040.
The trays have been updated but fit nicely on top of the others. Love the dehydrator too.

Am very pleased with the product. Delivery was prompt and customer service most excellent.
Gave this to my son in law as a gift, he loves it.
I bought the dehydrator for my son and his wife as a Christmas present and they were delighted with the choice. I don't think they have yet had the opportunity to use it, but they had used one of similar design borrowed from a neighbor.
