Sauerkraut pounders are an important tool for extracting juice from vegetables like carrots, cucumbers, cabbage, and other vegetables for fermentation. Traditionally, sauerkraut pounders were made of wood, but wood pounders are difficult to clean and often develop a funky smell. This 100% food grade surgical stainless steel pounder allows for a cleaner fermentation. The pounder is 10" long.

Although it’s billed as a pounder for sauerkraut, I bought this for canning meat. I love that it’s stainless steel so I can give it a good wash with soap after canning. It’s light and seems to be made extremely well. I’ve used it on about 5 canning sessions now, which is about 40 quarts of meat and have been nothing less than impressed each time. Thank you Pleasant Hill Grain!
