Phoenix Gravity New Millennium Edition™ Filter Elements, 2-Pack
Phoenix Gravity New Millennium Edition™ Filter Elements
Phoenix Gravity New Millennium Edition™ Filter Elements have been tested by independent third-party labs to remove or reduce a broad spectrum of waterborne contaminants typically found in U.S. and global municipal water supplies. Each element will purify up to 2750 gallons of water (5500 gallons per set of two).
Contaminants that Phoenix Gravity New Millennium Edition™ Filter Elements remove or reduce include: perfluorinated “forever chemicals” (PFAS, PFOA & PFOS), synthetic organic compounds—industrial and agricultural chemicals (SOCs), heavy metals, pharmaceuticals, volatile organic contaminants (VOCs), other waterborne contaminants, bad odors and tastes and more. Phoenix Gravity New Millennium Edition™ Filter Elements do not remove essential healthy minerals like magnesium and calcium in the water, and do not alter the Total Dissolved Solids (TDS). Therefore, the TDS levels remain unchanged.
The media within Phoenix Gravity elements removes contaminants by a surface phenomenon called adsorption, the molecular attraction of substances to the surface of the media. The exclusive purification elements are also impregnated with proprietary media that promote ionic absorption of pollutants within the micro-porous elements. A key reason Berkey systems are so effective in removing contaminants from water is their long contact period. Most systems blast water through their filters at high pressure, which limits contact with their filter media to only a fraction of a second. Water molecules passing through the revolutionary micro-porous structure of the Phoenix Gravity purification elements are drawn gently by gravity and remain in contact with the trapping media for several minutes. This multiplies the Phoenix Gravity filter media's ability to capture contaminants.
Certifications & Lab Results
Phoenix Gravity New Millennium Edition™ Filter Elements are pending certification to NSF*/ANSI standard 42 to reduce non-health-related contaminants, i.e. aesthetic impurities such as chlorine, chloramines, and particulates that affect taste and odor. They are also pending certification to NSF/ANSI/CAN 372—reduction of lead contaminants. NSF/ANSI/CAN 372 is consistent with the United States Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) and its lead-free plumbing requirements, as well as the requirements of individual U.S. states (the “CAN” designation represents “Canada”, with Health Canada working with NSF and ANSI to develop these standards for products that come into contact with drinking water).

Lifespan
We recommend replacing Phoenix Gravity New Millennium Edition™ Filter Elements every 2,750 gallons (5,500 gallons per set of 2 filters). Filters may require replacement sooner based upon the quality of influent water.
Set Up
The included PrimeEasy™ Universal Primer stretches and adapts to most faucet heads and spigots to ensure a smoother, more efficient priming experience by giving you a sealed, leak-resistant connection when priming your filter. Priming is a necessary set-up step that uses running water from your faucet or spigot to flush process dust from the filters before their first use and also displaces air out of the elements’ pores—ensuring that water can flow freely. The priming process is recommended to be performed when using the filter for the first time or after a long period of not being used.
Order for Replacement or Upgrade
Phoenix Gravity New Millennium Edition™ Filter Elements are designed to fit all Berkey® water systems,
plus most other brands of gravity-fed water filter systems.
Each Berkey purifier system comes equipped with some number of elements. Please see purifier system
descriptions for the number of elements that can be installed in, and the number of elements that are
included with, each system. For systems that can accept additional elements, installing more will increase
flow rate. Other gravity water purifier systems can also be retrofitted with
Phoenix Gravityelements. We recommend carrying at least one spare set of
Phoenix Gravityelements to assure your supply of clean, safe water.
Compatibility
Phoenix Gravity filters are fully compatible with Berkey PF-2® Fluoride and Arsenic Reduction Elements.
Cleaning
Clean-ability makes Phoenix Gravity water purifier elements one of the most economical ways to purify your water. Elements are easily cleanable with a Scotch Brite® pad or stiff bristled brush under running water. Why throw money away on expensive non-cleanable elements that have to be pitched frequently, when each set of two Phoenix Gravity elements produces up to 5500 gallons of super pure water?
Soft Water
The Phoenix Gravity purification elements are designed to remove heavy metals, but will not remove mineral salts, which are added by a water softener. The salt used to soften water will not be extracted by the Phoenix Gravity element. We recommend that you use softened water directly from the source rather than running it through the Phoenix Gravity elements.
Alternative to Black Berkey® BB9-2 Elements
The Phoenix Gravity New Millennium Edition™ Filters do not replace the Black Berkey® Elements, but rather, are endorsed by New Millennium Concepts (Berkey) as an alternative to Black Berkey® Elements while they remain unavailable for purchase as replacement filters. Black Berkey® Elements are still more advanced filters that address a wider range of contaminants to a greater reduction rate. However, the Phoenix Gravity New Millennium Edition™ Filters are high quality, reliable filters, and are more economical.
The Phoenix Gravity New Millennium Edition™ Filters are not the same as Phoenix Gravity's Carbon Filter Elements. The Phoenix Gravity New Millennium Edition™ filters have been tested to show successful reduction of over 100 additional contaminants that the Phoenix Gravity Carbon Filter does not claim. Please note the difference in the product name, specifically "New Millennium Edition".
The filters on this page are the only filters officially endorsed by New Millennium Concepts, Ltd. for
use in Berkey® Water Systems in lieu of Black Berkey® Elements (BB9-2).
