Maximizer® Apple Grinder
Save $10 now on the Maximizer Apple Grinder!
When you need to turn apples to pulp, our exclusive Maximizer® apple grinder is the tool for the job. When pressing apples for apple cider, you'll get about three times more juice by pulping them first, compared to pressing them whole.
The Maximizer apple grinder uses strong stainless steel teeth set into a large ABS rotor. As apples are ground, the load on the grinder's teeth changes rapidly. The Maximizer's large twenty pound flywheel is an important feature, providing rotating mass that maintains speed and makes an otherwise jerky and difficult effort smoother and easier.
Some people like to grind into a bucket and dump into their cider press, mounting on a sawhorse or similar support. Others prefer to mount the grinder higher so the pulped apples drop directly into the pressing basket. Mounting slots are provided for either back or bottom mounting, and fruit pulp exits through the bottom discharge.
The Maximizer turns your apples into the right texture to get the most juice from your harvest. It can also be used with pears and other large, pit-free fruit. Like all Maximizer® products, this fruit grinder is built tank-heavy with a ductile iron body and 3/4” stainless axle rod for years and years of steady, reliable service. It's an heirloom-quality machine that can be expected to serve you, your children, and their children.
The Maximizer arrives assembled except for attachment of the flywheel and handle, which takes one to two minutes. The rotor can be reversed for turning from the opposite side.
An optional wood hopper is available for the Maximizer grinder.
“Perfect for the home wine maker. I crushed enough grapes to fill my 12-gallon fermenter in less than 20 minutes. 90% of the stems came out clean with all the grapes removed. It’s my opinion that this grinder is much better than the grape grinder (more $$$) I was saving to buy.”

By Michael T. in MI on 4/14/2016 - Verified BuyerHigh quality grinder. Large and heavy wheel make the grinding process very easy. Highly recommend.16 out of 16 people found this review helpful. Did you?
By Bill H. in NH on 4/12/2016 - Verified BuyerDoes a good job for the backyard cider maker! The mounting holes could be a little larger for a more secure mounting on the table and allowing it to be put toward a table edge so that the crushed apples can just fall into a bucket or container from the table!Moderator:
Not sure if you're envisioning mounting with only the two rear-most holes, but we'd regard that as an unsound approach. A strong and easy solution would be to make a simple braced-angle adapter out of plywood or wide planking, like a giant bookend. That would allow mounting at the very edge of a table or bench. Thanks for your review Bill, we appreciate your taking the time, and we appreciate your business!15 out of 15 people found this review helpful. Did you?
By Alan K. in IA on 4/12/2016 - Verified BuyerDo yourself a favor and get the hopper extension with the hopper unit. The grinder works very well. Well balanced very durable. Grinds s a whole load of apples in a matter of minutes. Easy to clean. I wish I had bought a larger press as the grinder can easily keep up.14 out of 14 people found this review helpful. Did you?
By Steven S. in MO on 4/12/2016 - Verified BuyerThis crusher works well to mash apples and other fruit. It must be bolted to a table or bench to lock it down and establish the centrifugal effect necessary for easy crushing. The hopper is minimal, only holding five or six apples, but there is an accessory hopper kit that is a must have if you plan on mashing large amounts. Using it I could mash a five gallon bucket of apples in less than ten minutes and then feed them into the press. Having one person turn the crank and another feed the fruit in works best as the hardest part is to turn the crank on a loaded start.14 out of 14 people found this review helpful. Did you?
By Jerry H. in NE on 5/11/2016 - Verified BuyerI tried a food processor the season before... very tedious and the pulp was too fine. This grinder makes the job much easier. I appreciate the weighted flywheel. Even with the wheel the grinder will bog down if fed too heavily. Overall a good product for the money.13 out of 13 people found this review helpful. Did you?
By Maynard T. in ME on 3/28/2016 - Verified BuyerThe weight of the cranking wheel helps out greatly when you encounter a concentrated bunch of apples that hit the teeth all at once. Your hand/arm doesn't slow down or stop like the ones without this flywheel feature. I think that I will get the hopper extension which will make it easier to not drop as many apples when filling the grinder.13 out of 13 people found this review helpful. Did you?
By David W. in MN on 4/11/2016 - Verified BuyerThe construction of this grinder is top notch, and the weight of the flywheel makes the grinding easy - the centrifugal force keeps the grinding speed consistent without a lot of effort.10 out of 10 people found this review helpful. Did you?
By Richard S. in PA on 4/11/2016 - Verified BuyerBested my expectations. Turns easier than expected. Working with crab apples and small bitters and goes thru them like butter.8 out of 8 people found this review helpful. Did you?
By Susan E. in MI on 9/9/2016 - Verified BuyerThis grinder is heavy duty, and very well made. I have wild apples which are very hard and I'm able to put in about three at a time and I can still grind them. I have stripped out previous grinders because the apples are so hard. It also helps to let the apples sit for a week after you pick them.
The grinder is extremely heavy and you will need heavy sawhorses to mount them on. We were able to follow the diagram included and build a mounting frame out of two 2x4s. The grinder cleans up well with a garden hose and a small long handled brush. There was some staining on the white plastic drum from letting the pulp sit there for a few hours but it's just cosmetic.
The wooden hopper is nice if you are trying to grind more quickly and allows you to toss the apples in without really aiming. We attached it using wing nuts instead a of the nuts provided so I have a quick release when I need to take it off. I have another bushel of apples to grind this weekend for cider and I'm looking forward to using it.5 out of 5 people found this review helpful. Did you?
By Kevin B. in NY on 8/6/2016 - Verified BuyerPurchased this with a Maximizer press and couldn't be more pleased with the performance. With the hopper extension. apples are ready to squeeze quicker than anything I've used in the past. The flywheel makes the cranking easy!5 out of 5 people found this review helpful. Did you?
