Kuhn Rikon Valve Housing 1621
This is the valve housing that fits on top of the lid, on models made since 1998 (except DM Top & TIMAX models). It also functions as the steam deflector. It clips into place over the valve cap. Note the shape: This item has a conical shape. (If your housing is "bell" shaped, see item 3852 instead.) Diameter is 3-3/4".
When you remove this part for cleaning, if you remove it by lifting its edge from only one side, it will come up crooked, and that can cause the retention clips underneath to break. If you instead slip your fingernails (using two hands) just under the rim of the housing on opposite sides of the rim-circle, you can then pull it straight upward without it getting crooked, and the retention clips won't break.
If your Kuhn Rikon valve housing has failed prematurely, please call our toll free number during customer service hours. We may be able to help you get it replaced at no charge. That phone number is displayed in the lower section of this web page.
To be sure you get the right item, please check the parts page before ordering.
When purchased alone, this item ships by First Class U.S. Mail for $8.00 shipping/handling. Please see the Shipping Tab above for details.

In general I love Kuhn Rikon pressure cookers. However it is very frustrating the frequency which the valve housing has to be replaced when the plastic supports break off.
I wish there was a way to repair the plastic part and reuse the amazing steel material that is just wasted because of plastic parts that go with it.
I bought my Kuhn Rikon pressure cooker set in 2005 and I have been very happy with them ever since. I love the design, high quality and how they work. After 17 years of use, one of the pot lids was not holding pressure as it should and was in need of replacement parts. Pleasant Hill Grain carries all the parts needed for Kuhn Rikon and I bought and replaced the parts and it's back like new again. Pleasant Hill Grain has a very pleasant staff in customer service and are very knowledgeable of the products they sell.
The plastic on my old one broke. The new one works.
Easily found the replacement part I need for my pressure cooker. Customer service quickly advised when I could expect my shipment. Thanks!
Not like the knock off sold elsewhere. Does the job and well made.
The part came shortly after I ordered--before I expected it. Works great. Much appreciated.
Your products are the best quality and the customer service is fantastic. You go out of your way to make sure the customer is taken care of first. So many other companies should follow your lead. Keep up the great work!
The new valve lid functions perfectly, distributing excess steam as it should, while keeping the valve from debris.
This is an exact replacement part for my well used KR cooker. Over the years, they have tried to improve the plastic tabs that hold the lid to the pressure housing assembly, but they still have this tendency to break off. The last one did not last as long-but the alternative is to just leave the lid in place and over time, the food particles do collect under the lid so there is always a chance one of the tabs will break, if you're like me and want the pot squeaky clean!
