KoMo XL Plus Grain Mill
KoMo's Fidibus XL Plus mill offers all the features and performance of the standard XL mill, and adds a "super duty" commercial-rated motor. This means the XL Plus can be operated non-stop for extended periods, even hours at a time, and commercial use is covered under warranty for two years. The XL Plus consumes no more power than the standard XL, so operation remains very economical.
Power & capacity
Handmade in Austria, all KoMo mills are equipped with specially developed electric motors that provide reliable and efficient, yet extremely quiet power. The grinding burrs of the XL Plus are designed for particularly aggressive grain feeding and with its high strength 600 watt motor, this mill produces 10-11 ounces per minute for bread flour texture.
The large solid beechwood hopper holds 2 lb., 10 oz. of grain, and the XL Plus can run continuously so you can refill and keep grinding for whatever quantity of flour you need. The texture of the grind is continuously adjustable from super fine flour to coarse meal and cracked grain, simply by turning the hopper bowl to align its index mark with the graphic scale on the front of the mill.
All dry grains can be ground, including soft or hard wheat, oat groats (dehulled oats), rice, triticale, khorasan, spelt, buckwheat, barley, rye, millet, teff, quinoa, amaranth, sorghum, soybeans, and dent (field) corn. It will also grind lentils, dry beans (pinto, red, garbanzo/chickpeas, kidney & more), coffee beans, and dried, non-oily spices. It isn't suitable for oilseeds like flax or sesame, popcorn, cocoa nibs, cinnamon sticks, or sugar.
Dent (field) corn and soybeans can be ground to any texture from cracked to meal to very fine flour. For these very large-kerneled grains, grind first with the stones opened widely to produce cracked grain, then a second time if you want flour. The KoMo XL Plus will grind oats to a wonderfully soft, fine textured flour, but open the stones about five clicks (or so) wider than you would for a hard grain like wheat, otherwise the soft oat flour will fill the stones' furrows and in-feeding will stop. Opening the stones further will give you a cereal grind for porridge, or coarser yet for cracked oats, similar to steel-cut.
Easy Cleanup
As with all KoMo grinders, cleanup of the Fidibus XL Plus is minimal and easy, and full access to the milling stones takes just ten seconds without tools. A sealed wooden lid keeps everything clean between uses.
The excellence of engineering and construction that goes into every KoMo mill means that your mill can be expected to last a lifetime in normal use. Only the finest materials are used to make KoMo grain mills.
If you prepare food for someone with a food allergy, see KoMo's optional interchangeable insert system. This ingenious solution lets you grind different types of grain in the same mill while keeping food types completely separate.
Warranty
The KoMo XL Plus grinder is warranted for 2 years of commercial use, or 12 years of home use.

My XL Plus stopped working about two months after I bought it. It was, however, under warranty, and Pleasant Hill Grains happily replaced the motor for free. It has worked without incident for several years of regular use since then. The hopper is too small for a mill that is supposed to be for commercial use: I devised a work-around by cutting out the bottom of a Sterilite plastic bucket and inserting it in the hopper. The lid fits well atop the hopper extension, dampening the noise, and the hopper now has at least triple the capacity of the one that came with the mill.
I have been grinding my own wheat and baking bread for 25 years. My old Kitchen Mill finally gave out and I started doing research because I knew that replacing my old mill was going to be expensive. Bread baking is not a hobby for me--it is part of life and living healthy. After doing my research, I decided to buy a KoMo mill because of their reputation and consumer feedback. I chose the KoMo XL Plus is because it is designed for bakeries. This mill can grind wheat NON-STOP which is what I do. I grind 20 or more pounds at a time, then pre-measure the amount I need for each bread batch, and freeze each one in freezer bags. Once this is done, I take what I need out of my freezer, warm to room temperature, and bake. I love this mill! It is so much quieter than my old Kitchen Mill and grinds the wheat to perfection. I am so happy with my purchase and highly recommend this mill and any other products made by KoMo. You will not be disappointed! Pleasant Hill is a wonderful company, too. They provide so much help and information and that makes them my "go-to" online store. I am happy with all my purchases from them.
This mill replaces a NutriMill that we had for more than 10 years, but ultimately broke due to failure of the internal blades. We make 10-15 loaves of bread every week, so we need a mill that can process a lot of grain and is rated for lots of use. The KoMo XL plus seemed to fit the bill, and so far, has lived up to the expectation. It runs very well, and can produce fine flour or cracked grain very easily.
When I received my XL Plus I found up 50 pounds of corn with no problems. First I cracked the corn then ran through once more for very fine flour. Awesome machine. I believe this is a great investment.
Grinds wheat to very fine consistency. Works very quickly. No louder than any other mills I've had.
Was purchased in an effort to truly be self sustainable. Love this product. Sturdy and looks great! Easy to use as well.
After a nine month wait for this mill I am happy to report it is so easy to operate and works beautifully. The sifter attachment is also such a great tool!
We've been Hawos fans for years, but when our last Hawos gave up the ghost, we stepped up a level. Bigger, more power, and it does a great job. If you're serious about natural bread as we are, you can't go wrong with KoMo as far as we're concerned.
This mill works like a dream! We owned 2 other mills before this one and this one is far superior to either of them!! I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a grain mill! And pleasant hill grain has amazing customer service also!
I’ve had my grain mill for a few months and I absolutely love it. This machine is fast, quiet and efficient compared to other mills I’ve had.
Customer service was great to work with as well. I had a problem with the first grain mill that was sent. They worked with me in troubleshooting the problems. Turned out a piece was broken inside and they sent a new mill that very day.
Extremely satisfied customer!
