Ankarsrum Grain/Spice/Coffee Grinder
The grain and spice mill attachment for the Ankarsrum mixer is best for grinding whole grains to a cereal texture, and for grinding spices to a powder texture. It can also be used for grinding coffee, and to make steel-cut oats from oat groats. It is not suitable for grinding corn and we don't recommend it for fine flour for use in general baking purposes.

I'm returning this mill because I needed a mill that would have a fine grind for bread baking. However, it would do for cracked grains. I have other mills that would crack grains.
I already owned a Nutri Mill which I purchased from Pleasant Hill Grain but it would not give me a cracked rye as it ground too fine. A blogger from The Fresh Loaf told me she was using the Ankarsrum mill for cracked wheat and it worked well. It does the coarse end of the spectrum very well. It does not do fine flour so well but the Nutri Mill does so I now have all the bases covered. I also purchased my Anksarsrum mixer from you and it has been 6 years. Two years ago you helped me find someone to service it and it is still doing a great job with my artisan breads (8 lbs of dough at a clip). The products you sell are great and you are always helpful. Thanks a bunch.
Had the mixer and was so pleased I ordered every attachment for the mixer. All of the attachments work great and I now make bread that is far superior to store/bakery made breads and I have been making breads for 60+ years. So pleased with Ankarsrum brand items. I also called Pleasant Hill prior to my big order for all the parts and they were extremely helpful and knowledgeable. The shipping was also speedy. Highly recommend Pleasant Hill Grain and is definitely where I will go for future purchases for my kitchen!
I've just received this grain mill and used it to bake whole grain bread. I was a little nervous because this site indicated you could use it to grind fine flour and the manufacturer site said you could use it to grind course flour, but what I found it that I can use it to make flour just like I would have purchased. I'm very happy with it.
All the loafs I make w/ it have no oven spring (sourdough), and are very slow to rise. I'm kinda new to milling my own grain, but I think it's because it won't grind fine enough. When I grind hard red or white on the finest setting and run the flour though a #40 sieve, I get 135g of bran for 250g of flour... which seems to high an extraction rate to me. To get 250g of whole wheat I seive out the flour and re-grind the rest. After 3-4 times though the mill I still end up with 10gm that won't go thought a #40 sieve. So, am I doing something wrong, or the wrong tool? making cut oats works fine though.
I’m pleased to be able to grind the small amounts of flour I need with a relatively low cost mill that doesn't take up a lot of my precious storage space. I love how soft and fine it grinds the flour, and the quick and easy cleanup afterward.
Very pleased with my products and your customer service. Everyone I’ve spoken with at Pleasant Hill has been so pleasant. I'm a Delta airline flight attendant; I know how important good customer service is, and your people are great! Highly recommend to all my friends and colleagues.
I don’t usually write reviews and was hesitant to buy this attachment with all the reviews I’ve seen saying it doesn’t grind fine enough for bread flour. I have a nutrimill harvest which is a stone mill and love it. It’s fast and efficient however at one point I thought I wasn’t getting good enough results because the flour wasn’t fine enough. This attachment takes a bit longer than my harvest and sometimes I have to mill twice but it’s totally worth not having 2 things on my counter and does get the particles as fine as the harvest. If you aren’t getting your bread to turn out, it’s more likely you haven’t reached windowpane than an issue with the flour. Try to let sit an hour after everything is incorporated and after the hour then knead in your yeast and salt. The attachment gives fine enough. AND I made amazing ground cinnamon from sticks (3 passes through on different settings)
I had some difficulty with attaching the grain mill. I called customer service: the customer rep was very helpful and the problem was solved very quickly. Have recommended your company to a friend and pointed out the great customer service.
Like all the attachments for the Ankarsrum, fits great and works extremely well. Makes excellent wheat flour for bread.
