Go Berkey Purifier System, Standard
Berkey® purifiers provide incredibly clean, pure, sparkling water whether the source is a wild stream, stagnant pond, private well, or substandard municipal supply. Available in a wide range of sizes, Berkey purifiers rely on no moving parts and use no electricity.
The Go Berkey® is an extremely compact water purifier. It comes equipped with a single Black Berkey® purifying element, which is the maximum it can accommodate. Lower storage tank capacity is 1 quart. Flow rate is 1 gallon per hour when the upper chamber is full (flow rate is reduced as water level in the upper chamber declines). The streamlined Go Berkey has no spigot; to dispense, lift the reservoir off and pour your ultra-pure water from the lower tank.
The Go Berkey system nests to a size of just 4" x 10", compact enough to fit into even a small travel bag with lots of room left over. With a weight of only 2.4 lbs, the Go Berkey purifier system offers extreme mobility. Assembled dimensions are 4"D x 14"H.
A recent national study found 316 different contaminants in U.S. drinking water. Berkey purifiers remove pathogenic bacteria, cysts and parasites while extracting chemicals including herbicides, pesticides, organic solvents, VOCs, detergents, cloudiness, silt, sediment, foul tastes and odors. They reduce heavy metals such as cadmium, chromium, copper, lead, mercury, aluminum as well as nitrites, without removing the beneficial minerals your body needs.
Berkey purifiers use proprietary micro-pore technology to achieve contaminant reduction of 99.99999%. This extreme level of purification, called “7 log” reduction, means that no more than one part per ten million of the original contaminant remains. This standard is a thousand times more stringent than what's required to label a system as a simple “water filter.” Systems achieving 7-log reduction provide ultra-pure water not only in normal conditions, but also in circumstances of extreme and highly dangerous contamination. And unlike many purifiers, Black Berkey elements are cleanable: A Scotchbrite™ pad is all you need to remove exterior buildup and extend element life. Each element can clean up to 3000 gallons of water.
The media within Black Berkey elements removes contaminants by a surface phenomenon called adsorption, the molecular attraction of substances to the surface of the media. The exclusive purification elements are also impregnated with proprietary media that promote ionic absorption of pollutants within the micro-porous elements. A key reason Berkey systems are so effective in removing contaminants from water is their long contact period. Most systems blast water through their filters at 60-90 PSI, limiting contact with their filter media to only a fraction of a second. Water molecules passing through the revolutionary micro-pore structure of the Black Berkey purification elements are drawn gently by gravity and remain in contact with the trapping media for several minutes. This makes the Black Berkey filter media much more effective at capturing contaminants.
Berkey purifiers using the Black Berkey purification elements are proven to reduce pathogenic bacteria (including E. Coli, Klebsiella, Pseudomonas Aeruginosa, Giardia and Cryptosporidium) by 99.99999%. Berkey systems have been tested with the highest pathogenic contamination levels that can be produced in a laboratory. When contamination levels exceed a billion pathogens per liter of water (10,000 times the density of contamination used in the standard test protocol for bacteriological removal) they're classified as TNTC (too numerous to count.) Under normal testing protocol, one pathogenic organism is tested at a time, each with a fresh purifying element. For this test, however, the laboratory was directed to combine three separate pathogenic TNTC cultures. Tested under this extreme contamination level, absolutely no pathogens were able to make it through the purification elements. The laboratory then incubated the water, and nothing grew. When the purified water was viewed under an electron microscope not even inviable microbes were detectable—nothing was present but pure water. Furthermore, contaminants including trihalomethanes, radon 222, and volatile organic compounds including benzene, 2,4-D, Heptachlor, MTBE, styrene, tetrachloroethylene and toulene, among many others, were reduced to below detectable limits.
Viruses: Far smaller than bacteria, viruses typically range upward in size from about 30 nanometers (nm). Black Berkey purification elements have been proven in to reduce the MS2 and Fr Coliphage viruses, which are among the smallest viruses at about 25nm, to log 5 (99.999%). No other gravity fed water filtration system even comes close to this performance.
The striking superiority of Berkey water purifiers can be demonstrated with food coloring. When bacteria are viewed under a powerful microscope, food coloring is often used as a contrast enhancer to make the bacteria easier to see. Food coloring consists of particles so small that even under magnification strong enough to show fine details in a single bacterium, the food coloring still appears only as solid, uniform coloration. Yet Berkey purifiers effectively remove food coloring from water. Berkey systems are the only purifiers in the world that can do this.
Berkey purifiers are available in several configurations. All Berkey Systems using Black Berkey purifying elements meet or exceed the EPA's stringent "7 Log" (99.99999%) contaminant reduction specification. Systems using Black Berkey elements within transparent Copolyester housings are known as Berkey Light Purifiers. Systems using Black Berkey elements within 304-grade stainless steel housings have the same purifying performance, and are known as Berkey Stainless Purifiers.

Leaving for Manila, PI, next month for 3 weeks. Additionally, our missionary group will be traveling to Davao and Ilo Ilo. Yes, plenty of bottle water, but there is no bottled water company which even comes close to the purity of water produced by the Berkeley Water Purification Systems. I was so excited to find the "Travel" model to purchase w/ the sport bottle! Purchased immediately and have in possession. Takes up relatively little space in my luggage, as advertised. I already have used a BWP System in my home and it is incredible. I am going to check the box below for a reminder email to follow up my review of the performance I will have experienced in the Philippines. Now, I will be able to go to the Philippines and have the utmost confidence in water purification for not only myself, but for all the members of our Missionary group as I will be supplying them with their drinking water needs with my travel system. How exciting!
Love the quality, taste, and simplicity of the Berkey. Only thing that this travel model lacks is a handle on the bottom reservoir for pouring.
I am looking forward to using my travel Berkeley Water Purification System. The family of seven is going camping this spring and lugging tons of bottled water is NOT ideal. My brother has this system and LOVES it. I am glad we have our own now! thank you: )
We have been using a big berkey for several years. Bought this go berkey for our smaller camper and it works great. Prefect size for camping and the go berkey bottle is a welcome bonus for hiking.
We just came back from a trip and we used the Berkey every day and it gave us plenty of Clean water! We will start using it at home but we got it for when we travel and we are not sure of the water quality!! Thank You!!
Many regulated US water systems are not up to spec - about 40% from what I have read. After some research and a consultation with someone who knows about industrial water filtration, I bought the Go Berkey and extra water cylinders to test the system at home, and for travel, but also for peace of mind in case of emergency and I love it. I will buy a larger Berkey soon. With filters that have an unused shelf life of 50 years and that make so many gallons of water during use, stocking up on filters is a pretty inexpensive way to accomplish a lifetime insurance policy of a clean water supply. Also I cannot see ever going without a Sports Berkey again for running around. Thank you Pleasant Hill Grain!
I travel a lot and use it every where in and out of the country no belly troubles yet.
Have the travel Berkey and love it. Decided I'd try the smallest Berkey for travel and at my cabin. Wife loves it so much I'm using it making gallon per day for drinking and cooking. Guess I'll need to get another for my cabin. She says it's hers.
I have not had to use this system for an extended period of time, but trust the quality to perform as advertised. Having purchased this as something critical for survival in a disaster, I trust my research.
We really like our Berkey. Nice to have this portable version.
