Skeppshult Cast Iron Mortar Cube & Pestle

If you're looking for a durable mortar and pestle set, look no farther. This cast iron set from Skeppshult is probably the sturdiest you'll find. At nearly 9 pounds, it's certainly a serious spice grinder. The walnut wood handle on the pestle is 4 inches long, which makes it easy to grip while grinding spices and herbs. Foam pads on the base of the mortar keep your countertop safe from scratches.

Designed by Carl&Carl of Denmark, Skeppshult's cube mortar and pestle set is a timeless style that is sure to be welcome in kitchens for generations to come.

About Skeppshult

Skeppshult of Sweden manufactures artisanal cast iron cookware and cook's tools from strictly controlled raw materials in their factory in Småland. Made without harmful chemicals, their products have an exceptionally long life span, which explains how they can provide a 25 year cast iron warranty. Their natural and environmentally friendly cast iron products are made without harmful chemicals and require little maintenance.

Skeppshult's factory operates the only remaining foundry in Scandinavia making household products in cast iron. Many phases in the manufacturing are still pure hand craftsmanship and dependent upon great professional skill. Undergoing an average of ten quality control inspections before completion, your Skeppshult products will withstand year after year of heavy use.

Carl E. Andersson established his foundry on the shores of the Nissan river in 1906. Much has happened since then, but Skeppshult's commitment to fine craftsmanship remains strong. In an age of mass-produced mediocrity, a Skeppshult cast iron piece is a connection to a timeless standard of excellence. A Skeppshult pan or kitchen accessory is both a tool and an inspiration—an investment you'll never regret.

An Excellent Tool
By James B. in CA on 3/11/2017 Verified Buyer

An expensive but excellent tool, the indestructible Skeppshult's iron mortar cube & pestle does it's job well. The high quality cube is heavier, and with a smaller "footprint" than the traditional stone one for it's size. It's useful for both hard and soft spice grinding, but I wouldn't recommend it for grinding/smashing larger items such as medium sized chilies as it wasn't made for that. It's handsome enough to display on a counter top, and has little rubber feet so as not to mar the counter top surface. I know that I will have and use this cube for my lifetime.

Heirloom in waiting
By Fred K. in CO on 11/12/2019 Verified Buyer

This mortar and pestle has it all. Great size, deep bowl, and heft make this kitchen tool the next heirloom. And it’s all due to its exceptional balance of form and function. I am a picky consumer but this was one of the rare instances where my money was well spent.

Beautiful mortar and pestle
By Maria D. in CO on 2/19/2019 Verified Buyer

What drew me to this m&p was its beauty... and its great design and longevity. Did I mention it is beautiful? It is substantial but still earns a coveted place on my counter. Skeppshult is such a quality product, you will be handing this down for generations. My son has already placed dibs on it to inherit. It is a worthy investment.
