Skip the additives and preservatives found in many commercial cheeses, by making cheese at home! Choose your own ingredients and only include what's best for you and your family.
Cheese pressing expels remaining moisture from the curds and improves the final texture, creating a firm rind on the outside of the cheese and a smooth, uniform consistency within. Pressing gives the cheese the traditional wheel shape and prepares it for aging.
The Roots & Harvest cheese press holds curds made from 1-2 gallons of milk and makes a 1-2 lb wheel of cheese. The cheese press features all stainless steel construction, and the precision machined metal gears inside a protective gearbox will keep you making cheese for years to come!
“I just got my first order and was very impressed by how nicely and carefully it was all packed. Nothing was damaged, and it gives me confidence that I can safely order other items from you.”

Line Mold When Pressing
When pressing your cheese it's important to line the cheese mold with cheesecloth or butter muslin. The cloth will help wick moisture from the surface of the cheese and allow for proper drainage from the cheese mold. Without cloth lining the mold, the cheese may retain too much moisture and the curds may not knit together properly. For a long aged hard cheese, with very low moisture, it is best to use cheesecloth.
