Clearance: Nutrimill Classic Grain Mill

This is an R1 clearance item. Please check the tables below to see how we rate our clearance items.

Whole grain quick bread for breakfastSuper fine or coarser flour, your choice!

The NutriMill Classic electric grain mill uses a high speed impact chamber (also called a micronizer) to create flour from grains and beans, a modern and well-proven milling design. The NutriMill Classic has raised the bar for grain mill design with new features and abilities users have asked for—a combination of features found in no other impact mill. The first of these is the ability to grind super fine flour, much finer than any other impact mill, and also adjust to produce the coarser flour grind you need for perfect corn bread. Its impact grain milling heads provide a 400% range of adjustment from fine to coarse, ten times greater than earlier impact mills. NutriMill is the world's most popular maker of grain mills, and the NutriMill Classic turns out terrific flour quickly and easily!

The NutriMill Classic allows you to grind up to 20 cups of flour at one time! Its grain hopper with the hopper extension and flour bin are perfectly matched: Fill with grain once, and get 20 cups of flour (or you can do any smaller amount).

  • “Your customer service is the best. All companies could learn from you and your employees. Very courteous and prompt.”

    – Stacey, SD

Whole grain artisan breadConvenient, powerful & fast

Just pour grain in the hopper, turn the NutriMill Classic on, and its powerful 10 amp, 1-3/4 hp motor does the rest, quickly producing your choice of fine, medium or coarse flour. The NutriMill Classic's impact grinding mechanism is self cleaning, and it operates dust-free, so grinding grain won't mean extra housecleaning later. Easy-grip handles and light weight make the NutriMill Classic easy to move.

The versatile NutriMill Classic grinds wheat (both hard and soft), oat groats (dehulled oats), rice, triticale, kamut, spelt, dry beans, lentils, dent (field) corn, popcorn, dried sweet corn, split peas, buckwheat, barley, rye, millet, teff, quinoa, amaranth, sorghum, dried mung beans and soybeans. It will also grind dried, minimally-sprouted grain. The NutriMill Classic isn't suitable for herbs, spices, oilseeds like flax, chopped chestnuts, rolled oats or fibrous materials. Grains and beans that have already been milled can't be milled again in any impact mill, including the NutriMill Classic. Also note that when set for coarser meal texture, the NutriMill Classic's output remains too fine for making cereal grinds. The Nutrimill Classic is an outstanding machine for making a full range of flour and meal textures.

The new design of the NutriMill Classic's impact chamber allows you to put grain into the hopper before you turn it on with no risk of plugging the mill, which can happen with older designs. Even if stopped during grinding, the NutriMill Classic restarts again without trouble. This is a crucial design feature for an impact mill.

Protects nutrients

The NutriMill Classic keeps your flour at temperatures (typically about 118° in our testing) that protect the nutrients in your grains. Its new airflow design makes the NutriMill Classic the world's coolest-running impact mill.

Quieter Operation

With a sound level about like a vacuum cleaner, the NutriMill Classic is much quieter than the first generation of impact mill designs.

  • “With twenty years experience in customer service with Fortune 500 companies, I find positive and memorable customer service experiences almost non-existence these days. It’s refreshing to deal with a company like yours!”

    – Randy Lutterman, WY

 Compact Design

The NutriMill Classic's trim design, with its flour bin fitting below the milling chamber and its hopper extension nesting for storage, fits into your kitchen easily. Whether you keep it on your countertop for instant access or put it away, with an 11.5" storage height and 11" x 13" footprint, the Nutrimill Classic stores compactly.

Whole Grain Nutrition: Harvest the Benefits!

Imagine that for years, your children ate mainly candy. Imagine that you did, too. Imagine an entire nation on a candy diet. Imagine the health consequences.

Whole grain pancakesNatural whole grains contain a myriad of health-essential nutrients, from proteins to vitamins and amino acids. But "white flour" consists only of the starchy endosperm of the wheat kernel. In its natural form the endosperm provides wholesome energy, but it's the least nutrient-rich part of the grain. Removed are the nutrient-packed bran, wheat germ, and wheat germ oil. Then to make it extra white, industrial processors go further, chemically bleaching it, and returning just enough of a few vitamins to stave off beriberi and rickets. They're allowed to call the end product "Enriched Flour" but a truthful label would read "Impoverished Flour." This snow white, denutritionalized substance is a commodity worth billions of dollars annually to its merchandisers because of a commercially useful characteristic: Unlimited shelf life. No matter how long it sits in the mass distribution channel, it can't go bad precisely because there's actually nothing left in it that can go bad. Nutritionally, it's bad when bagged. A few companies have grown enormously rich marketing this pseudo-food on the basis of convenience, ease, and its dazzling white appearance. But a blind eye was turned to the consequences of replacing real whole grain flour with something that looks special, yet is virtually devoid of nutrition. In essence, candy. So widely has this nutritional travesty become accepted that we call it—and think of it as—wheat flour. But to depart further from natural grain flour would scarcely be possible. Then to make matters worse, artificial sweeteners, flavors and colors, appetite stimulants and preservatives are added to many of our foods. "Artificial" tells you those things aren't naturally food. But have you ever wondered what they actually are, then? Did you know some of them are actually petroleum derivatives? What unintended side effects might those complex counterfeit compounds have on us?

The human body is an absolute marvel; scientists have a long way to go to understand a tenth of how we work. But as capable and as resilient as our bodies are, common sense and history teach that we need wholesome, nutritious food to remain healthy and strong. The denatured byproducts being mass marketed today don't provide what we need, because they've been profoundly altered by processes in which real nutrition is considered last, or not at all.

Homemade artisan whole grain breadsThere's a great solution to this problem. By grinding grains in your kitchen and using the whole grain flour while it's fresh, you get the nutrition needed for strength and health. You also get far tastier food, with genuine character—incomparably more satisfying than today's mass marketed pretenders. After transitioning to whole grains, putting out a plate of white styro-bread will elicit comments like "Why are you giving us this... and where's the good stuff?". Even flour labeled as "whole grain" in stores falls far short of what you can easily grind yourself, because unless it's ground while you wait, the essential Vitamin E in true whole grain flour would go rancid in days (meaning that it's probably been removed), and all nutrients begin steadily oxidizing-away from exposure to oxygen as soon as grain is millled. What's in those bags is not whole grain flour if it's been sitting on a shelf for even a few days; that's literally impossible.

Making real food is more than doable, it's downright fun with help from Pleasant Hill Grain! A high speed self cleaning grain mill like the Nutrimill is the place to start. And to make whole grain bread quickly, easily and with consistently wonderful results, nothing beats the Bosch Universal Kitchen Center... a full-function mixer capable of both mixing and kneading bread that's ready to pop in the oven — quickly and without hand kneading. These machines make it easy to turn the corner to a far better and more enjoyable way of eating!

Expanded Ratings Descriptions

R1 Very close scrutiny is required to tell that the item isn’t brand new. Working surfaces may show slight wear; for example, the bottom-inside of a Bosch mixer bowl may show swirl marks because Bosch mixer whips are designed to “float” against bottom of bowl. Non-working surfaces (cabinet, control panel) look essentially new. Carton may not be perfect.
R2 Typically has a small scuff or mark on a non-working surface like a mixer cabinet or the top of a pressure cooker lid.
FR Mostly returned items which have been brought fully up to new-equipment performance specs at the factory.
D Demonstration items have been operated briefly at Pleasant Hill Grain.
DIS These items have never been used but we no longer sell them at full price in our store because it was discontinued by us or by the manufacturer.
U Has had light use.
SDB Has moderate damage or blemish on a non-working surface, such as a scratch or dent in the housing, or paint blemish.
NOS A brand new item that isn't the newest model.

  • Amazing!!!
    By on - Verified Buyer
This was my first time using this mill. The fineness of the flour is just amazing! Hard white wheat was my choice for my first loaf of bread from home ground flour. It raised twice as high as my usual w/w flour does. Even my husband likes it very much. I can see milling your own flour makes a world of difference! Not as noisy as I expected from comments I'd read. Also faster than I thought it would be. A very nice mill so far.

  • Wonderful Mill
    By on - Verified Buyer
I'm very happy about the button that enables me to disconnect the motor section from the base part. I need to remove it for the spot I store my mill in, and this makes that possible. The mill is just wonderful.

  • Well made, clean, and very customizable
    By on - Verified Buyer
We really only grind wheat, oats, and barley but with the customization ability of this mill we can figure out how to use other grains and beans. Plus we can choose the grit from very fine to course flour. Seems sturdy. Like all other mills it's loud, but there is no flour flying while grinding and the container for holding the floor is very large. Great product.

  • Gonna have to buy more grain
    By on - Verified Buyer
I bought this because the wife likes to cook and we like it fresh and somewhat "do it yourself ". This fills the bill. Wife has used it every day for cooking and baking. She really loves it. Bought dark wheat, white and corn in buckets and she's made a good dent in them. Highly recommended.

  • Definitely worth it!
    By on - Verified Buyer
We received this mill as a gift from parents and it sat in the box in a closet for months. We did not know what we had! When we started baking our own bread regularly (almost 4-1/2 years ago! ), we pulled out our NutriMill. We have put this mill through the wringer using it several times a week grinding anywhere from three to eight cups of grain at a time. We grind wheat, groats, quinoa, beans, and brown rice. We have been thrilled with the flour. The warranty is also great. Our machine stopped working one night (only a buzz) and we were able to send it in and get it fixed for no charge. We are happy with our NutriMill and recommend it to anyone looking for a grinder.

Reliable and works great. Have been using for about one year without any problems. However it is noisy and difficult to clean. Gasket is sticky.

  • Great grinder
    By on - Verified Buyer
I have had this grinder for 1.5 years. I use it a lot and I love how easy it is to use. It has just recently started klunking sometimes. I think I might need to clean it out. But it still works great. It doesn't spray flour dust, which is awesome!
