"With twenty years experience in customer service with Fortune 500 companies, I find positive and memorable customer service experiences almost non-existence these days. It’s refreshing to deal with a company like yours!" — Randy Lutterman, WY
Meadows hammer mills combine practical design and proven reliability with simplicity and economical cost. The Meadows hammer mill has been in continuous production for over forty years. They're in use across the U.S. and around the world, in applications ranging from processing grain for livestock feed to grinding glass bottles for recycling.
The Meadows hammer mill operates by impact action and will pulverize most dry, free-flowing materials. Material fed into the hammer mill from the top falls into the grinding chamber. The material is contacted by a series of hardened steel hammers rotating at high speed. The material is ground by repeated contact with these hammers, contact with the walls of the grinding chamber, and particle to particle contact. The material remains in the hammer mill grinding chamber until particles become small enough to escape by passing through the perforated screen that covers the bottom half of the grinding chamber. Interchangeable hammer mill screens are available with hole diameters from 1/64" to 2", to allow for fine or coarse grinding of most products.
Bottom-discharge (gravity discharge) hammer mills may be used when the product to be processed will be processed to a consistency 1/16” or larger. Mills must be equipped with a material handling fan (air conveyor) when the product will be processed to a consistency 3/64” or smaller. The bottom-discharge hammer mills are limited to the following interchangeable screen sizes; 2”, 1-1/2”, 1”, 3/4”, 5/8”, 17/32”, 1/2”, 3/8”, 11/32”, 5/16”, 1/4”, 3/16”, 5/32”, 1/8”, 3/32”, 5/64”, and 1/16”.
“Your customer service is exceptional, best I have experienced in years.”
– Mark R., UT
Mills equipped with a material handling fan may utilize the screen sizes listed above, plus 3/64”, 1/32”, and 1/64”. The screen sizes listed are the diameter of the perforation measured in inches. The output volume of the hammer mill is determined by screen size, shaft speed (normally 3,600 rpm), and configuration of the hammers, which can be set up to suit your application.
The Meadows hammer mill may be belt driven or direct driven to fit your needs. Engineering staff is also available to assist in designing a hammer mill system to efficiently handle your product, whether you need a complete system or want to fit a new piece of equipment into your existing layout. We also offer mechanical or pneumatic conveying equipment, collectors and piping systems.
Due to the wide range of motor and other setup options, the pricing displayed above is for the base hammer mill only, without motor or drive components such as belts and pulleys. We can provide a motor to fit your horsepower and voltage requirements for U.S. or overseas applications. Please call for price quote.
