Maverick's MM-5501 uses a 575 watt motor to grind over 23 pounds of meat in only 10 minutes! Runs quieter than other grinders, for comfortable use. Can be operated continuously. Motor has reversing switch.
Three grinding plates are included with the Maverick MM-5501 meat and food grinder. Precision manufactured stainless steel plates and knives thoroughly grind all types of meat, cheese, vegetables or nuts. Stomper is included. Sausage stuffer tube and spacer are also included.
Big #8 dies: for easy, fast feeding of all kinds of food. Large #8-diameter plates measure 2-7/16" across, over 30% larger than most grinders in this class. Three plates are included: 1/8" (fine), 3/16" (medium) and 5/16" (coarse.) The Maverick MM-5501 grinds more meat in less time than competing grinders. Throat diameter is a generous 1-9/16".

These are the replacement grinding plates (aka "discs") for the Maverick 5501 grinder. One of each size is included with the 5501 grinder.
This is the replacement knife for the Maverick MM-5501 meat grinder. One of these is included with the M-5501 grinder.
Important: Over time, a knife and plate develop uneven (but mated) wear patterns as they operate together (just as the pistons and cylinder sleeves in a car's engine do), so it's important to always keep them together as a set. When you replace a knife, you need to use a new plate with it (or flip to the new side of the plate, if one side hasn't been used yet). Using an unmatched knife/plate set will cause bad grinding performance, rapid wear and possibly even breakage. So you will normally want to have two knives for every plate.
Also: Be sure to install a new knife with its sharpened edges positioned against the grinding plate. If you're an old hand at grinding, you've know this for years—but beginners often have the wrong idea that the knife's sharp edges should face the oncoming meat, and that won't work at all. The knife's edges need to face the outer end of your meat grinder, so that those knife edges rotate directly up against the grinding plate.

This is the replaceable shear coupler for the Maverick 5501 grinder. (The manufacturer calls it the "Feed Screw Gear", but it is not actually a gear.) Please note that if your Maverick 5501 grinder was purchased before 2010, this shear coupler may not fit your grinder.
This replaceable part is designed to break if you encounter things that are too hard for the grinder, to protect the grinder from more extensive damage. One of these is included in the 5501 grinder, and a spare is also included. We recommend keeping at least one or two spares on hand to avoid downtime.

I can't say enough about this little beast of a grinder! I first bought one in the nineties and was looking to only replace the grinding blade, but with the model now obsolete and parts scarce to find, I decided to purchase the newer version of what I have. Happily I can say that newer model performs flawlessly without clogging up with sinew. For the price, you can't go wrong.
Works great. We have put up over a hundred pounds of both pork patty and link sausage. It has already paid for itself. The Maverick 5501 meat grinder is a GREAT PRODUCT!
I compared several grinders before choosing the Maverick 5501. Dollar for dollar the Maverick kept eliminating the competition. All categories of comparison, wattage, quietness, shear ability, everything including price made my decision. It is a hard working appliance for the money.
Great purchase! Very easy to assemble and clean. Grinds chicken, beef, onion, potato, very well. Very satisfied with the Maverick 5501 meat grinder!
Works really great, of course the meat does best if it is almost frosty.
Good purchase. Easy to operate. Used it first to grind some lamb for meatballs, then some beef that ended up a bit tougher than expected. If hubby gets an elk next season, we'll make hamburger and sausage.
We've used a commercial grinder for as long as I can remember. Cannot get parts for it anymore. My husband researched grinders and came across this one. Ground up 3 deer and worked great! We shut it off every 15 minutes as recommended. Never clogged up or bogged down. Thanks for a wonderful product!
