Gasoline Powered Wire Winder

Powered by an easy-starting 5.5 HP Honda engine, the newest Pro-Tatch winder works from any platform—no hydraulics required. Clutch handles on both sides and the wire-guide arm operates from only one side. As with all Pro-Tatch wire winders, operation is so smooth that even heavily rusted wire can be spooled without frustrating breakage.

To wind wire, just park your vehicle, tie a weight on far end of wire to prevent recoil (a short length of chain works well), and pull wire toward you. When the reel is full, tie the roll with 4 retainer wires held by pre-drilled holes at the edges of the reel. The reel splits easily by spinning the nut off the 1" shaft, and the roll lifts away without binding.

The Pro-Tatch wire winder rolls barbed or smooth wire, or light cable. The reel holds 1/2 mile of barbed wire or 1 mile of smooth wire.

The gas-powered Pro-Tatch winder uses the same proven split reel as the hydraulic winders, as well as the optional solid reels.

We use it for rolling up used barb wire from fences we are taking down, it worked very well for this application. The thing that we really like about it is being able to remove the roll from the winder without needing a separate spool for each roll. We built a mount to attach it to a skid steer loader, and we installed a flow control to limit speed.
