MX3 Blender for Univ. Plus Mixer

$79.95

MX3 Blender for Univ. Plus Mixer

Designed to blend, mix, pulverize, chop and puree, the MX3 blender is the most popular accessory for the Bosch Universal Plus mixer. Driven by the Universal's powerful motor, it mounts on the mixer’s high speed drive attachment point, locking securely in place. A blender with the power to do everything from crushing ice to cracking wheat provides exciting new options in the kitchen. Make your own nutritious smoothies, protein drinks, whole wheat pancakes, soups, sauces, baby foods... and many other healthful delights.

Cleanup of the powerful Bosch blender couldn't be easier—with its strong blending action, it will clean itself! Just add a couple drops of dish soap to 2 cups of warm water, run on high for 30-60 seconds, rinse and you're done.

Note: If you’re replacing an older blender, please be sure to check the condition of the High Speed Drive (HSD) piece, which is attached to the top of your Universal mixer and drives the blender. In most cases, if your blender is due for replacement, then the HSD is also very worn and needs to be changed at the same time. Putting a new blender onto a worn-out HSD will result in rapid wear and failure of the drive coupling on a new blender, and Bosch doesn’t warrant the blender coupler against abuse of that nature. The High Speed Drive is a user-replaceable part, and it's available here; you can judge the condition of your HSD by comparing it to the photo on that page. The three teeth of the HSD need to come all the way up to the top of the HSD; if they’re rounded-off, it needs to be replaced.

Mixer sold separately.

Blender Blade Wrench

The accessory Blender Blade Wrench helps you to easily remove the blade from your Bosch blender for the Universal Plus or Classic mixer, L'Equip RPM blender, or Bosch Compact mixer's blender. This Blade Wrench is not included as standard equipment with any blender, and it does not work on the L'Equip vacuum blender for Bosch Universal mixers.

Both Bosch and L'Equip recommend cleaning their blenders without removing the blade assembly: Just add a couple drops of dish soap to 2 cups of warm water, run on high for 30-60 seconds, rinse and you're done!

It is recommended that you remove your blender's blade assembly only if repair or maintenance is required, such as gasket replacement, after years of use.

If you do need to remove your blade assembly and find that it's stuck tight, this wrench (and maybe a second person to hold the blender carafe) should do the job. It grips the lugs that protrude from the blade assembly base below the bottom of the blender; it does not grip the blades themselves, which is not necessary to remove the blade assembly.

All blade assemblies use a standard-direction thread, so you turn counter-clockwise to remove. Only a partial turn is required, then the blade assembly pulls straight out. Before replacing, spread a drop of vegetable oil on the gasket and re-seat the assembly by tightening very firmly by hand. The Blender Blade Wrench should not normally be used for reinstalling the blade assembly. It can be used for reinstalling if your hand strength isn't otherwise sufficient, but be careful not to overtighten with the wrench.

Some blade assemblies require a tipping motion during removal and reinsertion, to navigate one blade tip around the lip of the carafe's bottom opening.

Note: For Bosch blenders, the blender lid is designed to do double duty as a blade removal "wrench". However, with its stronger means of attachment and long-handled leverage, this accessory Blender Blade Wrench is much more effective for blade assemblies that are stuck tight.

no pour spout,
By Cherie O. in ID on 4/12/2016 Verified Buyer

The liquid goes everywhere when you try to pour in to a glass or other object. Water gets inside of the handle and there is mo way to get i tout.

Moderator : Bosch recommends letting the blender clean itself, by putting a few drops of dish soap and a little warm water in it, and running it on high briefly. This will save you from having to immerse the handle at all, and the outside of the carafe and handle can be wiped clean. Also, we believe pouring will go well if you tip the carafe over the receiving vessel a bit faster, not real slowly. Thank you for your review, Cherie.

Great blender!
By Sonya H. in TN on 5/09/2016 Verified Buyer

We have had this blender for many years. It attaches to our Bosch Universal Plus. It has performed excellently every time. It has even been dropped a couple of times and kept on going. After all these years of making countless smoothies (most of those with frozen fruit and/of ice cubes in them), we finally had to replace it due to a small leak at the bottom. But I didn't hesitate to buy another, because of its great performance. The blender and the mixer were one of my best purchases for my kitchen: )

Regret buying the blender attachment
By Peony on 6/23/2019 Verified Buyer

Pleasant Hill did everything right on its end, but in my opinion, Bosch offers a poorly-designed blender. I think my hand-held, cheap immersion blender is more efficient than this blender attachment. First, the lid has a removable, plastic insert with a hole through which one could pour a liquid. There is no option to keep the blender contents inside the blender other than keeping one hand over the hole to catch the residue of whatever is being mixed. So, forget leaving the blender running to step away for a moment. Second, when mixing something hard like ice, soaked cashews or frozen fruit, a significant portion of the contents ends up in the lid. Third, the blender takes forever to liquify contents of anything other than a mixture of liquids. The transmission seems powerful enough to power the blender, but the design fails to support any efficient blending of ingredients. So, if you buy this blender, be prepared to constantly stop the machine, wash the hand the was covering the lid, use a spatula to scrape down the lid and sides, and repeat several times before you have a fully blended container. I like the universal plus mixer bowl and its attachments, but I am really disappointed with this product and regret buying it.

Moderator : Your blender is within its return period, Peony, and you're entirely welcome to send it back for a full refund. Thanks for your review!

Not resilient enough
By Jenni E on 7/09/2017 Verified Buyer

We needed a blender that could take lots and lots of use. The plastic that is blender is made with just isn't that resilient. After it broke, I replaced it with a different blender.

Moderator : Hi Jenni! It's unusual for the Bosch blender to give out in just six years of even heavy use. Just as an FYI, in case you blend a lot of ice cubes, the most common cause of carafe failure is blending ice cubes without having liquid in the blender first. It's best to introduce them with the blender running, too. Those caveats hold true for pretty much all blenders. Thanks for your review and for your business!

Love This Blender!
By Sherry T. in PA on 4/09/2016 Verified Buyer

This is a replacement blender for the original Bosch mixer unit that I purchased years ago. It functions beautifully, is so easy to clean, and I'm thrilled that I didn't have to purchase an entirely new blender or mixer. Kudos! !

Replacement Bosch blender
By Lucas H. in CA on 2/25/2016 Verified Buyer

As always with Bosch, continued excellence. My old blender due to my negligence, joined my recyclables. The replacement will receive better treatment I promise. There is nothing I've ever asked it to blend that stops it. Truly worthwhile equipment and having it be part of my mixer, avoiding appliance space for both on my counter is lovely. Lucas

Plus blender
By Cindy B. in IL on 1/28/2019 Verified Buyer

My Bosch mixer of 42 years died recently. It had been such a dependable machine all those years that there was no other choice but another Bosch. And while I was ordering I decided to replace my blender that wasn't performing up to par. So far there is no comparison. The blender out performs my old one. I like the safety feature of the unit not running without the lid. There was a learning curve reassembling but I figured it out quickly. And your sales representative was very helpful and laughed with me at my silliness over my mourning over my dead machine.

Bosch Universal Plus Kills the Competition
By Madeleine R. in TX on 5/21/2018 Verified Buyer

I own a Universal Plus with stainless steel bowl and recently added a blender. It outperforms anything I've ever used. I highly recommend it and would rate it 12 on a scale of one to ten. Madeleine Reilly
