Potassium Iodide protects the sensitive thyroid gland against the effects of radiation exposure, by blocking absorption. The U.S. government recommended dosage is 1 to 4 capsules daily per person (4 capsules per adult, less for children), so the bottle of 90 capsules (32.5 mg each) will provide for two adults for eleven days after exposure. The FDA states a shelf life of fifteen years. Preexisting medical conditions may influence the advisability of taking potassium iodide; consult your personal physician before using.
