Bread Slicing Guide, Norpro Wood

Norpro bread slicing guide: Easily cut uniform slices, 9/16" thick. Crumbs drop through slats into wooden box, keeping your countertop clean! Just shake box over waste can from time to time. Includes a removable end piece (not shown) that aids slicing when loaf is short. Overall size is 7"D x 6.6"H x 12.5"W. Accommodates a loaf up to 6.5" wide. Due to this slicing guide's width, your bread knife should have a blade 9.5" or longer, otherwise your maximum slicing stroke will be too short and the knife tip will tend to slip out of the far-side guide.

Bread Slicing Guide

This product seemed like a good idea to me, but after using it a couple of times I just didn't feel it was totally necessary. It is built well, and does do what it's supposed to do, I just found it easier to slice the bread w/o it. I think the only real con I would say it might have is that it will make your knife dull because no matter how hard you try you, or at least I, always seemed to cut the wood on the bottom.

The product arrived in the time it was supposed to. I like the wood and that you are able to catch the crumbs in the wooden box. This helps with cleaning. What I didn't like about the bread slicer was that the slots for slicing doesn't extend to the length os the box to fit the whole loaf of bread. It allows for half a loaf, then I had to either take the half sliced bread out, or turn the whole loaf around to cut the other half. I would buy it again if Pleasant Hill Grain makes adjustments to accommodate the whole loaf of bread.

I replaced my older bread slicing guide with this. Love the crumb catcher. Works as it is supposed to. Would maybe have liked it to be a little longer (extend the slots) for longer loaves, but it is wide enough to handle really full, wide loaves.
