The fact that there is a place, like Pleasant Hill Grain, where one could purchase a Kuhn-Rikon pressure cooker in about 2004, and also the replacement o-ring (that lasted about 19 years) necessary for said pressure cooker to achieve the necessary pressure to function properly, is a wonderful, as well as uncommon, thing... and is greatly appreciated!
What can I say?...it's the OEM part, it fits properly, and it seals.
Thanks PHG.... You have great customer service. It wasn't about what you could sell me. It was about what was the right part.
There is a large ring nut under the lid that holds the valve stem on the lid. It is simple to grasp with a slip joint or large pliers if after twisting the stem it does not loosen. Once the under lid nut is loosened pry the O-ring off the stem. After 20 years the ring had hardened and fragmented. I needed a very small pry bar or screwdriver and a hemostat to get it off. Then it is easy to replace. I asked Kuhn-Rikon to post a video for removal. I have bookmarked Pleasant Hill Grains as parts are hard to find. Thank you.
I ordered a replacement product for my pressure cooker. Pleasant Hill Grain had exactly what I needed, in stock and shipped it very promptly. The web site is easy to navigate, they have an amazing selection of products. Before ordering anything in the future, I will check Pleasant Hill Grain first.
Very fragile rubber edges, must be gently installed, instructions worse than useless, actually detrimental. Valve bottom has three rubber lips, edge these in carefully or they will tear. Push them one at a time through hole. Good luck. Pleasent Hill and Kuhn Rikon helpful and apologetic.
Prompt delivery is all I can say
