You can order gaskets by model number for current models. For older models, the gasket sizes refer to the diameter across the inside edge of the gasket itself, not the diameter of the cooker. To convert from inches to centimeters, multiply inches x 2.54.
Gaskets should be replaced periodically, as they harden over time and stop sealing, which causes pressure loss. It’s a gradual process that’s easy to overlook, but performance declines and eventually your cooker won’t work at all. It's easiest to order a spare with your cooker, and it's also good to have a backup in case yours gets nicked or damaged by a stove burner, etc.

Note: Gaskets usually arrive coiled in such a way that one gasket may at first appear to be multiple gaskets. This is done to reduce packaging materials.
Another crucial part that requires periodic replacement is the SI valve. You don't need to replace it until it starts losing pressure, but once it does, performance will go downhill fast. For this reason, we recommend replacing the SI valve at least every 3-4 years. You'll find the Kuhn Rikon SI valve here. |
