Drill Adapter for Wonder Junior Mill
This adapter lets you power your Wonder Junior grain mill with an electric drill. The mill should not be turned at more than 300 RPM (revolutions per minute), which is about twice the typical speed of hand cranking. With many drills it's difficult to maintain a particular speed. The DeWalt DW130V is one drill that users have found it pretty easy to control the speed with. Powering the Wonder Junior mill using this adapter and a drill does not void the manufacturer's warranty. The Power Drill Adapter includes a special tool that makes handle removal easy.

I'm using the Wonder Mill Junior with the masa auger to grind corn for tamales. I can grind it by hand, but it will take forever considering the amount of tamales I want to make. The drill adapter works great, easily ten times faster and easier than grinding using the handle. Well worth the price. The only thing I would change would be adding a set screw to fasten the adapter to the auger, or better yet, a hole through the adapter and a matching hole in the auger for a pin, to keep it from coming off the shaft while grinding.
I ordered this adapter because any time I can save work, I will. Of course, I bought the Wonder Mill Jr. because I wanted the best mill for times that there is no electricity. So far that luckily hasn't happened, and I wanted a quicker way to grind for times like now when I have the luxury of electricity. With the correct drill speed this adapter is great. I think anyone that has the Wonder Mill Jr. should have this drill adapter. Totally satisfied!
We were very excited to receive our Pleasant Hill grain mill. The first thing we did was grind wheat. Then decided to use the drill attachment to make peanut butter. What an arm saver. For someone wanting a good workout just use the crank.
When I received the Wonder Junior Deluxe Grain Mill I was impressed with the flour it produces from my sprouted grain. Fortunately, the Pleasant Hill Grain employee who had taken my phone order, told me I should let the grain just begin to sprout before dehydrating the "metamorphosed" grain kernels. I should not let the sprouting to produce "little tails" of any length. She was so right - barely sprouted made for a good product. However, being a senior citizen and already owning the exact same drill that's recommended for the drill bit adapter, I thought why not simplify the process. I'm glad I did; this adapter, with my Wonder Junior makes short work of a bowl of sprouted wheat kernels.
Used the mill for grinding dry corn and whole grains and it was excellent with the grinding stones. Produced very fine flour. Tried the mill with nixtamaled corn and it made a very nice finely ground paste for tortillas. My only disappointment comes from the feed tube area. The basket that is loaded with the stuff to go into the grinder is an alright size but the throat is so tiny ( about the size of a teaspoon ) that to get the nixtamaled corn into the auger area you almost need to force the corn in with your hand. This corn swells up until it is 3 - 4 times larger than when dry. This is my only problem, otherwise it grinds corn, grains and beans into beautifully fine flour with the stone burrs. It grinds the nixtamal into a fine paste using the steel burrs. It is just difficult to get the nixtamal into the auger.
After taking an hour to grind 1 cup of flour from berries I tried this adapter with a regular 3/8" portable drill. ZERO SUCCESS. I suppose with no power in a disaster I could get a workout and grind a cup of baking flour in an hour but I am not about to spend $300 for a plug in electric 1/2" drill that would be useless during a power failure. Lesson learned we think this hand mill does not live up to it's mostly stellar reviews.
This bit makes grinding flour a lot easier and faster.
The Wonder Junior Mill Deluxe has outperformed my expectations. Being somewhat older than I used to be, I find the drill adapter very useful. Use a powerful drill and keep the speed low, about what you could do by hand cranking.
Looks good, have not used it yet. Good initial service from Pleasant Hill Grain.
I just give it 4 stars simply because I switched to the gear pulley !
