Clearance: Bosch ER1 Stainless Bowl for Universal
This is an R1 clearance item. Please check the table below to see how we rate our clearance items.
Note: The product images on this page are of a new item, with the exception of any images marked “Clearance item”.
This Original-Style Stainless Steel Bowl (model MUZ6ER1) uses a special dough hook that drives from the bottom of the bowl. This bowl comes with its own dough hook, which does an outstanding job of kneading. The bottom-drive design provides a little extra dough capacity because there is no center column as in the standard bowl. This stainless bowl also includes splash ring and center cover.
The bowl fits on the Bosch Universal mixer's low speed drive (the same place the standard plastic mixing bowl mounts). Whips, whisks and cookie paddles cannot be used with this bowl because it's built without the center drive column. The bottom drive shaft pops out of its socket with a smack from the palm of your hand, for easy cleaning. Putting a drop of vegetable oil on the O-rings after washing will make them last a long time.
Capacity is 6 quarts (approx. 14 lbs. of dough).
Important note: To use this bowl on the Universal Plus mixer, you'll need to use some small user-supplied rubber bumpers that can be picked up at any hardware store, to prevent wobble. (See here.)
To be sure you get the right item, please check the parts page before ordering.

This mixing bowl works better then the plastic one for bread dough. This bowl should come with the mixer and have a different way for the regular attachments to work with this. I have the newest mixer and this bowl has not been updated for it yet, works needs rubber bumpers added to keep the bowl from wobbling. For bread making the plastic bowl with the center post is hard to get the dough out of (to much stuff in the way), and hard to clean (dough gets in all the groves in the top where the attachments run).
Works excellent and mixes very well. I love it, would get another one if I would ever need one again. And doesn't pull the motor down as hard as the plastic bowl.
I made my first batch of sourdough bread the day after it arrived. It was so easy! The mixer did its job without any issues. My old KitchenAid professional mixer burned up after 5 years of trying to process my sourdough breads. I can tell this 800 watt is going to be the perfect power to mix and knead this bread.
The suction cups on the bottom of it held it tightly to the counter for the 6 minute kneading process. I used to hold onto my kitchen air to keep it from walking off the counter. I bought the stainless bowl specifically for making breads. The dough hook attachment is upside down in the bowl to allow for more room when kneading large batches of bread. I am very happy with this Bosch mixer.
I ordered this bowl as a replacement for my bowl from my Bosch mixer that I've had for 17 years! My dough hooks finally broke after that long! We ordered this bowl and were pleasantly surprised that instead of four loaves of bread dough I can make six in this bowl! Much easier to clean than my last bowl and it always looks nice and clean being stainless. I'm very happy with it!
I just upgraded my mixing bowl for my Bosch and made bread this weekend. I love the design, with the blades coming from the bottom and no center tube area. Less mess and great to use.
The bowl works great, every bit as good as the plastic bowl that came with the mixer only much easier to clean.
Very pleased with the quality of the bowl.
I'm new to making bread, but when I purchased my Bosch Kitchen Machine it came with a plastic bowl and it mixed from the top. After using a friends mixer with a steel bowl and mixer from the bottom, I loved the way it worked and knew I had to have one. I purchased it from Pleasant Hill Grain and used it right away that weekend to make rolls for Easter. They turned out GREAT!
I initially was sorry I ordered the Bosch with the regular bowl and not the SS bowl. However, I'm thankful I have both. I absolutely love this SS bowl for making bread. Because the hook is in the bottom, I can add more ingredients and knead bread without having to stop and scrape or have anything fly out at me like it did with the other brand stand mixer. Our breads are typically made with a lot of seeds and nuts, etc., so this SS bowl is a wonderful addition to my baking arsenal. It's a breeze to clean and the dough comes cleanly away from the sides. It's so shiny. I love it and I highly recommend this to anyone that has a Bosch Universal mixer.
If you want to make bread, especially large batches of 6 loaves, this is hands down the best bowl to use with the Bosch mixer.
