Description
Clearance: Wonder Junior Deluxe+ Grain Mill
This is an R1 clearance item. Please check the tables below to see how we rate our clearance items.
The Wonder Junior Deluxe+ grain mill comes with interchangeable milling heads that lock onto the body of the mill: One pair is stone and the other pair is steel. This allows a range of milling options and flour results that can't be matched by other grinders having only a single set of milling heads. The steel burrs tackle wet or oily materials and are also best for certain dry materials, while the stone burrs provide a fine grind for dry grains and dry beans. When using either set, the grind is quickly and infinitely adjustable from extremely coarse to extremely fine, or anywhere between. Two optional powering accessories are also available for the Wonder Junior mill—a power drill adapter and pulley wheel—to further extend its usefulness.
New & Improved Design
The NEW Wondermill Junior Deluxe+ boasts mutiple upgrades: A lockable adjustment knob system, burrs that lock onto the body of the mill, and a quick-pull locking pin for easy shaft change. This great mill is more amazing than ever!

Grinding speed & quality
The Wonder Junior is among the easiest-operating hand crank grain grinders on the market. With the quick change head system you can switch from grinding dry grains, beans and legumes to oily or wet grains, nuts, seeds or coffee, in just minutes. The Wonder Junior is a fast hand mill, producing 1-1/4 cups of fine wheat flour in 1 minute with very reasonable turning effort. It has a generous hopper capacity of over 1 quart.

“We specifically bought this to grind our own nut butter. It doesn't disappoint. We are happy with our purchase.”
– Autumn P., MN
Stone Burrs
The thick, 4" diameter corundum stone burrs of the Wonder Junior mill combine aggressive precision grinding with long burr life. Using the stone burrs, your Wonder Junior can grind wheat (both hard and soft), oat groats (dehulled oats), rice, triticale, kamut, spelt, dry beans, lentils, dent (field) corn, popcorn, dried sweet corn, split peas, buckwheat, barley, rye, millet, teff, quinoa, amaranth, sorghum, dried mung beans, garbanzos, and more (all dry grains and beans.) The Wonder Junior can easily be adjusted to grind coarse, fine, or anywhere in between—so you're ready to make flour, grain meal, cereal grinds, cracked grain... you name it. Switching between stone and steel burrs takes less than two minutes.
Stainless Steel Burrs
The 4" diameter stainless steel burrs of the Wonder Junior mill can be used with any of the dry grains and beans that the stone burrs can be used with. In addition, the steel burrs can be used for oily or wet materials that would gum up and/or clog grinders that use only stone burrs or impact-style milling heads. In conjunction with its newly redesigned, highly aggressive feed auger, when using the steel burrs the Wonder Junior mill can grind nuts, coffee beans, herbs, spices, oilseeds like flax, fibrous materials or sprouted seeds or grains, cacao nibs, dried bone, alum and more. (The Wonder Junior is not suitable for grinding dried carrots or mesquite bean pods.) The Wonder Junior can easily be adjusted to grind coarse, fine, or anywhere in between. The steel burrs prepare you to easily turn out nut butters, grain flour, steel cut oats, meal, cracked grain and more. The Wonder Junior grain mill equipped with its steel burrs has the widest range of grinding capability that can be found. Read the Wonder Junior Deluxe grinding list here.
Rugged construction
The robust construction of the Wonder Junior grain mill is seen in its solid metal unibody design, heavy duty replaceable bronze bearings, large diameter (5/8") steel drive shaft and a heavy duty crank arm with handle that's sized to be comfortable for every hand. Each component of the Wonder Junior is more than strong enough for decades of daily use. The construction of the milling body extends to the milling heads as well. The steel and the corundum stone burrs alike are engineered for both excellent grinding performance and long life. The entire main body of the mill is powder coated—a food safe, super tough, long-lasting finish that helps make cleanup a breeze.

“The Wonder Junior Deluxe grain mill works really well and the ability to adjust the grind on the fly without changing parts is a big bonus. It feels really sturdy and will probably outlive me.”
– Dan L., WA
Dual Grip Clamp
The Wonder Junior's table clamp wasn't an after-thought, as is the case with many mills. It attaches easily, and with its large dual clamp screws it won't slip during grinding. The large swivel pads on each screw mean it won't chew up your table, and it accommodates surfaces up to 2-1/8" thick and a counter overhang from 2-1/2" to 2-3/4" deep.
Quick Cleanup
It takes just one to two minutes to clean the mill out after grinding a material like dry grain, and a handy brush is included that makes it easy. Because the Wonder Junior Deluxe+ includes the Flour Guide as standard equipment, you won't have flour scattered around on your counter. Cleanup takes a little longer after grinding wet or oily products (like when making nut butter), but the mill's quick, tool-free takedown makes any cleanup simple and hassle-free.
Options
The Wonder Junior Deluxe+ comes very well supplied with all of the essentials. Included standard are the mill itself, the stone burr set, the steel burr set, the flour guide, the table clamp and a handy cleaning brush. Optional available items include the masa auger, drill adapter and the pulley wheel.
Also known as the Wondermill Junior grain mill, the Wonder Junior Deluxe hand mill is a well thought out and well built mill that's ready to go the distance.

Whole Grain Nutrition: Harvest the Benefits!
Imagine that for years, your children ate mainly candy. Imagine that you did, too. Imagine an entire nation on a candy diet. Imagine the health consequences.
Natural whole grains contain a myriad of health-essential nutrients, from proteins to vitamins and amino acids. But "white flour" consists only of the starchy endosperm of the wheat kernel. In its natural form the endosperm provides wholesome energy, but it's the least nutrient-rich part of the grain. Removed are the nutrient-packed bran, wheat germ, and wheat germ oil. Then to make it extra white, industrial processors go further, chemically bleaching it, and returning just enough of a few vitamins to stave off beriberi and rickets. They're allowed to call the end product "Enriched Flour" but a truthful label would read "Impoverished Flour." This snow white, denutritionalized substance is a commodity worth billions of dollars annually to its merchandisers because of a commercially useful characteristic: Unlimited shelf life. No matter how long it sits in the mass distribution channel, it can't go bad precisely because there's actually nothing left in it that can go bad. Nutritionally, it's bad when bagged. A few companies have grown enormously rich marketing this pseudo-food on the basis of convenience, ease, and its dazzling white appearance. But a blind eye was turned to the consequences of replacing real whole grain flour with something that looks special, yet is virtually devoid of nutrition. In essence, candy. So widely has this nutritional travesty become accepted that we call it—and think of it as—wheat flour. But to depart further from natural grain flour would scarcely be possible. Then to make matters worse, artificial sweeteners, flavors and colors, appetite stimulants and preservatives are added to many of our foods. "Artificial" tells you those things aren't naturally food. But have you ever wondered what they actually are, then? Did you know some of them are actually petroleum derivatives? What unintended side effects might those complex counterfeit compounds have on us?
The human body is an absolute marvel; scientists have a long way to go to understand a tenth of how we work. But as capable and as resilient as our bodies are, common sense and history teach that we need wholesome, nutritious food to remain healthy and strong. The denatured byproducts being mass marketed today don't provide what we need, because they've been profoundly altered by processes in which real nutrition is considered last, or not at all.
There's a great solution to this problem. By grinding grains in your kitchen and using the whole grain flour while it's fresh, you get the nutrition needed for strength and health. You also get far tastier food, with genuine character—incomparably more satisfying than today's mass marketed pretenders. After transitioning to whole grains, putting out a plate of white styro-bread will elicit comments like "Why are you giving us this... and where's the good stuff?". Even flour labeled as "whole grain" in stores falls far short of what you can easily grind yourself, because unless it's ground while you wait, the essential Vitamin E in true whole grain flour would go rancid in days (meaning that it's probably been removed), and all nutrients begin steadily oxidizing-away from exposure to oxygen as soon as grain is millled. What's in those bags is not whole grain flour if it's been sitting on a shelf for even a few days; that's literally impossible.
Making real food is more than doable, it's downright fun with help from Pleasant Hill Grain! A grain mill like the KoMo Classic is the place to start. And to make whole grain bread quickly, easily and with consistently wonderful results, nothing beats a quality stand mixer that's capable of mixing and kneading bread that's ready to pop in the oven — quickly and without hand kneading. These machines make it easy to turn the corner to a far better and more enjoyable way of eating!

Expanded Ratings Descriptions |
|
R1 | Very close scrutiny is required to tell that the item isn’t brand new. Working surfaces may show slight wear; for example, the bottom-inside of a Bosch mixer bowl may show swirl marks because Bosch mixer whips are designed to “float” against bottom of bowl. Non-working surfaces (cabinet, control panel) look essentially new. Carton may not be perfect. |
---|---|
R2 | Typically has a small scuff or mark on a non-working surface like a mixer cabinet or the top of a pressure cooker lid. |
FR | Mostly returned items which have been brought fully up to new-equipment performance specs at the factory. |
D | Demonstration items have been operated briefly at Pleasant Hill Grain. |
DIS | These items have never been used but we no longer sell them at full price in our store because it was discontinued by us or by the manufacturer. |
U | Has had light use. |
SDB | Has moderate damage or blemish on a non-working surface, such as a scratch or dent in the housing, or paint blemish. |
NOS | A brand new item that isn't the newest model. |

By David M. in NC on 1/8/2014 - Verified BuyerAfter trying several cheaper grinders that didn't do a good job I decided to go with the wonder junior deluxe. The quality was as good as mills that were MUCH more expensive. It was one of the few mills in this price range that would also handle wet grinding like nuts etc. I feel confident that this grinder will meet my needs for years to come.34 out of 34 people found this review helpful. By GittyupGirl. in WY on 2/2/2017 - Verified BuyerI just recently purchased the Wonder Mill Jr. because I wanted a reasonably priced, hand operated grain mill, rather than an electric mill (if the power goes out it wouldn't do much good). I got a cheaper mill and destroyed it in ten minutes (broke the gear off) The Wonder Junior. has worked really well so far. I'm still learning how to adjust the stone grinding heads for the type of flour I need. The bread that I have made has been fabulous! The only problem I had was there wasn't a lock washer on the back of the handle, so it kept spinning itself off, but I put one on myself and remedied that little inconvenience. Even with that said, I'd actually give the Wonder Junior 4-1/2 stars. Nice, sturdy, reasonably priced, versatile, wonderfully made mill. Thanks.29 out of 29 people found this review helpful. Did you?

By JAMES R. in MN on 1/2/2016 - Verified BuyerI've ground coffee, peanut butter, as well as wheat flour. I wore my last grinder out. I think this one will outlast my grandchildren!26 out of 26 people found this review helpful. Did you?

By Nicholas F. in SC on 6/5/2016 - Verified BuyerThe Wonder Junior mill is beautifully designed for a lifetime of steady use. Easy to clean and simple to operate. Between the stone and steel burrs, it grinds virtually any grain, bean or seed.19 out of 19 people found this review helpful. Did you?

By Ted H. in AL on 3/25/2016 - Verified BuyerI've been using an old steel grinder. This new Wonder Junior mill is great, even better than expected. So easy, does so many things. How someone can not have good results is not understood by me. Using it is fall-off-a-log easy. Looking forward to some different grains and maybe some peanut butter.18 out of 18 people found this review helpful. Did you?

By Tonya W. in NE on 6/9/2015 - Verified BuyerI have been happy with this mill without regrets. I have hand ground different types of wheat and look forward to peanut butter. I just have to plan ahead a little more especially when I need 10 cups of flour.16 out of 16 people found this review helpful. Did you?

By Carolyn W. in MA on 10/30/2018 - Verified BuyerThis is the first grain mill I've used so I can't compare it to anything. So far we've ground dry field corn (steel burrs) for cornbread - it took 2 passes and hard work but we got a decent medium coarseness flour that baked up wonderfully. The second use was to grind nixtamalized blue corn (steel burrs) for masa. The masa came out nice, but I did have a problem with the kernels not feeding into the auger intake very well and had to use a wooden spoon handle to tamp them in as I ground. I was using the masa auger and once they got into it they moved along fine. I think I need to try some different corn preps to see if my kernels were just unusually sticky. We also ran about a half pound of old dal through when we first got it to clean out any factory residue. We have not yet used the stone burrs. Overall very happy with the mill and am looking forward to years of use.12 out of 12 people found this review helpful. Did you?

By Persis V. in VA on 1/21/2018 - Verified BuyerWe purchased the wondermill junior primarily to turn our homegrown hominy into masa. It worked well but didn't do it as fast as we were hoping. We haven't tried using the drill bit yet. It's a beautiful, strong, well-made mill and we love the double attachment base! We will need to experiment with preparing our hominy to the perfect texture for efficient grinding. We found we needed a tool to push the hominy through, which is not included. We had a tool from our old Vittoria Juicer that worked well. The person I talked with from Pleasant Hill was courteous, helpful, and knowledgeable about the product.11 out of 11 people found this review helpful. Did you?

By Geoffrey M. in UT on 4/27/2018 - Verified BuyerLooks and feels like VERY solid equipment, tons better than a cheap-o hand grinder from 30 years back that fell apart after a few uses. I've ground about 3 quarts of flour so far. I noticed I had to re-tighten the knob a few times while grinding, although the spring in the handle/auger is supposed to make re-adjusting the knob not needed. It is possible I put the wrong spring in (comes with 2 springs). I thought the instructions on the 2 springs were unclear.8 out of 8 people found this review helpful. Did you?
