We've purchased numerous super pails for our emergency survival stock; we've open five different grains and/or beans and cooked them. All have been great and exceeded our expectations.
I have been buying hard red wheat from Pleasant Hill Grain for nearly 30 years. I love their wheat & it makes the most awesome 100% whole wheat bread. It's vacuum packed in the super pail, & no concern about the length of storage. I highly recommend it.
I recently stopped into PHG while in NE from CO, visiting family in the near-enough towns of Hastings and Beaver Crossing. I am SO GLAD I did, and that I had the presence of mind to take home a SuperPail of spelt! This spelt is really clean—much cleaner the stuff I had been buying from Azure Standard and, at last order, had been very frustrated with due to the amount of chaff left on the grain. And, I know, spelt is tough to clean, but isn't that what I'm buying--ready-to-grind grain?
When I opened the PHG SuperPail, I was impressed that, inside, the spelt was vacuum-packed in a secondary protective wrap, and inside that sealed wrap was a good-sized desiccant packet to absorb excess moisture that may have been trapped inside. Sheesh! Rather than frugally and frustratingly using up the other, I've been adding it to the chicken rations, and am digging into the high quality PHG.
I wish PHG had room to put out in the storefront more of the great stuff I've see online. Next time I visit, I plan to spend more time with the online catalog first so I don't leave anything behind. Stop in if you are near—they are sweet and accommodating.

I drive across Nebraska on I-80 when I visit family in Kansas. I had stopped at Pleasant Hill once before out of curiosity, but at the time they didn’t have many grains in stock. I purchased some sample packs and one superpail on that trip. Since then, I’ve ordered several appliances from Pleasant Hill. Before my last trip, I was pleased to see they seemed to be well-stocked with grains and ordered spelt, khorasan, and einkorn for pickup. They had the order ready for me when I arrived and I was back on the road quickly. My family raises white wheat; I have limited experience with other grains. These berries seem clean and fresh. I haven’t opened the einkorn yet, but I’ve been happy with the khorasan and spelt. I’m glad that pickup is a money-saving option for me, but I would purchase from Pleasant Hill even if it weren’t. Great customer service!
