HYDROPRESS FRUIT PRESSES
A hydro-powered approach to the fruit press/grape press: Water pressure delivered through your garden hose powers this unique fruit pressing machine. As effective as it is simple, the hydropress consists principally of two parts: An outer, perforated stainless steel basket and an expandable inner rubber bladder. Before water pressure is applied, the rubber bladder occupies a small cylindrical space in the center of the assembly. The space surrounding the bladder (21G/80L or 10G/40L) is filled with your crushed fruit, then the pressure lid is secured on top. With the turn of a ball valve, the heavy duty rubber bladder of the cider press expands and juice starts flowing through the perforations of the basket. Moments later you have great volumes of juice in your bucket, and spent pulp that's really spent.
Fast transition: Opening the drain valve quickly returns the bladder of the fruit press to its original size, and the pressure lid is removed. Lift the basket over onto a tarp or cart, lift up the basket's mesh liner bag, the pomace (spent pulp) drops out, and you're ready for the next fill cycle. Extracting a high yield of juice from your fruit doesn't get any faster, or easier, than this.
Our well-built hydropress works equally well as a wine press/destemmed grape press, cider press, pear press, general fruit press. It is not suitable for hard fruits or vegetables such as olives, carrots, or beets, or for citrus fruits.
For more details see the specs tab, above.
One mesh liner comes standard with the fruit press. The main press comes assembled. The three legs and a valve need to be attached, which can be done in just a few minutes.
As with any press, to get good juice yield from apples you need to pulp them first. Proper pulping lets you get three to four times as much juice from the apples, compared to pressing the fruit whole. Our Electric Apple Grinder is perfectly suited to the capacity of the hydro press.

I used the Electric Apple Grinder and Stainless Hydropress from Pleasant Hill Grain for the first time last fall and was thoroughly impressed. Prior to purchasing this equipment, I ground the apples with a hand-crank mill and used a manual press. With the electric grinder and hydropress, I get substantially more yield in a fraction of the time. Once I've filled the hydropress with mash and start the water flow, I generally have about 5 gallons of cider in less than 15 minutes. I make more cider in three hours, with less work, than all day the old way. I definitely recommend the grinder and hydropress.
A full to the top press holds 160 lbs of ground apples. 140 lbs would be a comfortable fit. The press gave me 12 gallons from 160 lbs of apples. I pressed it for thirty minutes. Would be difficult to empty the dry mash if you are not very strong. I bear hugged the metal screen to lift it over the bladder then dumped it in a barrel. Otherwise you would have to scoop all the dry mash out by hand.
This was a long-considered purchase after a previous season hand pressing apples. It made the pressing almost ridiculously easy. We pressed for about a 10-15 minute cycle with two guys handling the lifting and dumping of the dry mash inside the stainless steel cylinder. We were very happy we made the purchase. You will want to allow the press to thoroughly dry after cleaning before putting it away. We had a small amount of light rust at the weld joints when it was less than 100% dry. My only larger concern is the life of the bladder, it seems very durable but we plan to purchase another prior to pressing in the fall.
Love this press! My only con is the directions should be written for dummies. Also a better you tube video would helpful.
I got the hydropress and the electric apple grinder. We have 5 apple trees that were overwhelmingly producing this year. So much simpler, faster, better, and great yields of wonderful juice. Very easy to use. Only wish I bought it earlier in the season. Our apples were falling faster than I could put them up. Now, as quick as I can get them picked, washed and ground I have gallons of juice pouring out. Running out of containers to put it all in. The peace it has given me this season is worth the price for the higher end grinder and press. Thank you. It was delivered quickly and easily put together and into use. Awesome!
I shopped very hard for this press. Looked at several at the same price with much lower quality. Others of the same quality, but much higher prices. Service was excellent, delivery was prompt (2-3 days), and there were no freight charges whatsoever. Highly recommend your company.
Only thing I could say bad about it was you'll most likely need to get your own hoses. There was a 3/4" soft pvc hose for the inlet and nothing for the outlet, no adapter for a garden hose but we are using a pump with a push fit anyways. need 1/2" hose for the drain.
Other than that, rock solid.
Does the best job, and very easy cleanup. Best deal around.
Used once so far. A wheelbarrow full of apples made about 28 quarts of juice that was clear, minimal sediment, and soooooo good. Quick and very easy to use, and easy cleanup. The worst was the grinding. We bought the manual grinder as well, it takes muscle and the most time, but my husband did that part so I can't complain. I fed the hopper, he turned the wheel, works better if only one or two apples are in at a time. Now everyone wants to borrow our brand new equipment....
Although I haven't used it yet I'm amazed with the quality of this product! It arrived in two days by FedEx in perfect condition. The representative was very helpful. Shipping was FREE!! This separated Pleasant Hill Grain from the competition! Thank you for your great service!
