Skeppshult of Sweden manufactures artisanal cast iron cookware from strictly controlled raw materials in their factory in Småland. Made without harmful chemicals, their products have an exceptionally long life span, which explains how they can provide a 25 year cast iron warranty. Their natural and environmentally friendly cookware is made without harmful chemicals and requires little maintenance. Skeppshult cast iron is PFOA-free, PTFE-free and cadmium-free. Handle material options include beech wood, walnut wood, stainless steel or silicone. All the handles stay cool to the touch with stove top use. The stainless handle is oven safe, the silicone handle is safe up to 440°F and each of the wood handles are not recommended for use in the oven.
Skeppshult's factory operates the only remaining foundry in Scandinavia making household products in cast iron. Many phases in the manufacturing are still pure hand craftsmanship and dependent upon great professional skill. Undergoing an average of ten quality control inspections before completion, your Skeppshult cookware will withstand year after year of heavy use, metal utensils and high heat. Skeppshult pans are nearly impossible to wear out. Pre-seasoned with organic canola oil, your Skeppshult pan arrives ready to use with a natural nonstick coating.
All Skeppshult cast iron cookware performs just as well on gas, ceramic, radiant, halogen or electric ranges as well as induction heat sources. Magnetic cast iron cookware heats quickly, disperses and stores heat better than other cookware material, and works well with high heat. Thanks to these qualities, cast iron provides an excellent roasting surface.
Using the right products and traditional cooking optimizes the beneficial iron content of our food. With iron anemia a challenge for many, the best way to help yourself while cooking at home is through slow cooking in combination with foods rich in iron, such as red meat, egg yolks and dark leafy greens. Many foods such as tomatoes also help to increase your iron intake by absorbing substantial quantities of minerals from cast iron cookware. And while many makers use recycled cast iron of questionable safety, Skeppshult uses only virgin iron ore.
The bottom of each Skeppshult cookware piece is slightly concave to add stability to stovetop use and minimize the risk of injury.
Carl E. Andersson established his foundry on the shores of the Nissan river in 1906. Much has happened since then, but Skeppshult's commitment to fine craftsmanship remains strong. In an age of mass-produced mediocrity, a Skeppshult pan is a connection to a timeless standard of excellence. A Skeppshult pan is both tool and inspiration, an investment you'll never regret.

I love this cast iron skillet for so many reasons. First of all its made from raw iron unlike other companies who make their products from recycled materials ie, engine blocks, various mechanical parts etc that's been scrapped from junk yard.
2nd its quality finish and design. Handle does not get hot if you're cooking on stove top. You can use it in the oven as well since handle is stainless steel.
This skillet heats evenly which means it won't burn your food in one spot and undercook it in another.
Last but not least, it comes with 25 year warranty-its built that well!
This is a really nice preconditioned pan. A good size, and oven proof too. Only wish I’d bought it sooner!
I looked far and wide to replace a cast iron skillet I used for years. It had some hot and cool spots and got tired of working around those issues. I saw the description for the Skeppshult skillet and took a chance it would meet my needs. I have used this skillet every day since I bought it. The Skeppshult’s performance is superior to any cast iron skillet I’ve used; it heats evenly and there are no hot spots to avoid. It cleans easily. I recommend spending a bit extra for the stainless steel handle. This handle does not get so hot and makes the skillet more versatile because it can go in the oven too.
Best pan ever. Does what I want keeps my tummy full.
Good for Chinese pancake, bean-cure....Taste better and crispy. Love it, my cooking skill has been advanced.
Almost too beautiful to use, the wood handle is great to handling on the stove. Beautiful pan, high quality and easy to season - even with the wooden handle
This pan fits the eye of my Kitchen Queen 480 Wood Cook Stove perfectly. My ancient smaller Skeppshult seems a trifle better but it has decades of experience. I expect this new one to be just as good in 30 years. These pans make all others appear as trash can lids. Pleasant Hill's speed in filling the order and shipping could not be surpassed, all this in the days preceding Christmas. I cooked Christmas dinner happily in my new Skeppshult. I am a very satisfied customer and will recommend Pleasant Hill.
