Why Olive Wood?
Olive wood is an ancient symbol of peace, purification, strength, and victory. It is also incredibly durable and resists odors. It has a tight grain, which prevents scratches and cracks. The wood is a lovely golden color with dark brown veins. Just look at the unique pattern that emerges in the rectangular olive wood cutting boards. Berard products are not only aesthetically pleasing, they're also long lasting. Another reason many prefer to use olive wood product in their kitchen is because it’s natural—there are no harsh chemicals in Berard products.
Hand washing is recommended for Berard products because they’re porous. Avoid soaking, use a minimal amount of soap, and rinse thoroughly with water.
To moisturize, apply olive oil, mineral oil, or food-safe beeswax. We offer 100% natural coconut oil cutting board oil and cutting board wax that will restore and protect wood products throughout your kitchen.
One of the core values of the Berard company is environmental responsibility. The olive wood used to make these products is harvested from old trees in agricultural orchards that no longer bear fruit. The people at Berard believe it’s important to use every piece of wood from each olive tree they receive, so instead of throwing out wood that can’t be used to make a product, it’s used to heat the drying chambers and the production facilities in winter.
