IMPORTANT: COVID-19 UPDATE

Today we're shipping orders for in-stock items placed October 6. Our Hampton showroom is temporarily closed. Despite high order volume, our amazing shipping team is rapidly reducing processing times—we’ve recently added 17 new team members! We greatly appreciate your business and we’re doing our very best to serve you, as Jim C. of California tells. A word to the wise: Because resupply of many product lines remains daunting, and processing times may grow again in coming weeks, there’s never been a year like this to do your Christmas shopping and other year-end buying very early!

The Authentic Belgian Waffle
Posted: April 11, 2019
Source: Chef's Choice
This authentic recipe, preferred in Belgium and the Netherlands, is much richer and sweeter than American recipes. Both children and adults love this Belgian treat. It is particularly good for dessert, at parties and for special occasions.
Yields
3 whole waffles

Ingredients:

  • 8 oz. granulated sugar
  • 1 cup (8 oz.) melted butter
  • 4 eggs, separated
  • 8 oz. self-rising flour

Directions:

  1. 1. Preheat the Classic WafflePro. Set the temperature control dial at 3-4.
  2. 2. Place the granulated sugar in a medium size bowl. Mix in the melted butter and 4 egg yolks. Then thoroughly mix in the self-rising flour.
  3. 3. In a small bowl, beat the 4 egg whites until stiff. Gently stir the egg whites into the mixture until all is fully blended. Add more flour as necessary to stiffen the batter. The batter should flow off a spoon but only slowly.
  4. 4. Pour 1/3 cup of batter onto each preheated waffle form square. Close the lid and press it down lightly to level the batter. Bake for 3 minutes.

Author's Notes:

The waffle will be soft and fragile (compared to American waffles) when they are "ready", but it will stiffen quickly when removed from the griddle. Because it is very sweet and filling you will find that 3 waffles will satisfy a group of 6 people.
