"Bread pudding is a wonderful year-round comfort food that's quick and easy to make. With lemon sauce drizzled over the top when it's fresh out of the oven your house will smell delicious! "
- 3 c. evaporated milk
- 1/4 c. butter
- 1/2 c. organic agave
- 3 eggs, beaten
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 4 c. bread, torn or cut into bite-size pieces
- 1/2 c. golden raisins, optional
- 2 c. water
- 2/3 c. organic agave
- 2 T cornstarch
- 4 T. butter
- 1 T. lemon juice
Scald evaporated milk for 5 minutes.
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Place a baking dish with 1" of water in it on the lower rack of the oven.
Add butter, agave, eggs, salt, and spices to the hot milk.
Place bread into a 9"x13" greased baking dish. Sprinkle with golden raisins (optional).
Pour milk mixture evenly over bread, making sure to soak all the bread. If using whole wheat bread, you might need to increase the liquid.
Bake on the middle rack of the oven, over the dish with water in it, for 35-40 minutes.
Boil water in sauce pan over medium heat.
Add the remaining ingredients and stir until thickened.
Serve over warm bread pudding.
This bread pudding is heart-warming on its own, but making a quick lemon sauce to accompany it takes it to a whole other level of goodness!
