Mexican Molcajete & Tejolote

Crush herbs & spices in old-world style. Our handsome 8-1/2" diameter molcajete is the traditional Mexican version of the mortar, carved from natural volcanic stone for a very aggressive grinding surface. The molcajete (molka-heh-tay) is used with included tejolote (the pestle, pronounced tay-ha-low-tay) for authentic moles, salsas, fresh guacamole or grinding chilies and other hard spices. The molcajete is 5" tall and the tejolote is 4-1/2" long with a 2-1/2" diameter grinding end. Includes a booklet with steps to cure and clean your molcajete, plus recipes.

  • “The customer service at Pleasant Hill is at a level almost unheard of these days! I had (too) many questions, to which I received very timely, helpful answers. Thank you!”
