Turn your apples into delicious juice... and unforgettable family memories... with the MacIntosh apple cider press exclusively from Pleasant Hill Grain. With solid heavy duty construction, this press is built for quick and easy operation, and many years of reliable, trouble-free service.
Fast tip-off design: The frame yoke of the MacIntosh apple cider press quickly tips out of your way for easy basket loading and unloading access. The speed and convenience of this design makes everything work faster and easier.
Best materials: With its rugged yoke made of 1.5" steel tubing, stainless steel pressing basket and heavy gauge stainless steel pan, the MacIntosh cider press is built throughout with quality components that make it a joy to handle every time you use it. When shipped, the press legs are bolted down to a wooden board which you can use as a base, or reuse/recycle. The board prevents leg damage during shipment.
There are presses on the market that look similar to the MacIntosh, but aren't as strong. At Pleasant Hill Grain we refine our product designs continually, often in ways that don't meet the eye. Our MacIntosh has extra reinforcment under the tray to withstand higher force, allowing you to get more juice from your fruit without damaging the press.
“Excellent press. Delivery was really fast. Works really good. 100 percent satisfied.”

We recommend ordering an accessory mesh basket-liner bag to use with the press. Traditionally, disposable cheesecloth is used to keep finer fruit pulps from squirting out between the basket holes under high pressure, but our mesh bags are reusable and much more convenient.
As with any press, to get good juice yield from apples you need to pulp them first. Proper pulping lets you get three to four times as much juice from the apples, compared to pressing the fruit whole.
We offer a wide selection of apple presses:!

By Dawn E. in WI on 4/12/2016 - Verified BuyerI purchased the fruit press to accommodate our small orchard's Honey Crisp apple needs and have been extremely impressed. The product was delivered on time in a very sturdy container. Construction is even better than expected and the MacIntosh is a work of art. The minimal ssembly was completed by my elementary aged daughter. The pressing screw glides effortlessly through the pressing process so easily, my daughter easily completed the first press with her fingertips, completely pressing all liquid. The remaining fruit pulp is easily removed by using the fabric mesh bags, sold separately, and was fed to the chickens. Cleanup is completed with soap and water. I added lubricant to the metal shaft as well.
Besides Honey Crisp apples, our orchard also includes: Concord grapes, red Latham raspberries, yellow Anne raspberries, Bartlet pear and Stella cherries. The fruit press was used to press from the entire orchard. Note - each fruit was pressed separately and then blended together for taste in the kitchen.
The price for this labor saver was a steal. The fruit press has become my best friend, next to the bees.

By JohnnieAppleCider on 9/9/2016 - Verified BuyerI am quite pleased. The press has surpassed all my wishes. Easy to operate, easy to clean and most important, the yield is wonderful.
I bought 3 of the mesh bags and use all 3 in each press with 2 circular pieces from a plastic cutting board separating them. The mash is divided into thirds and the cider can only exit out the side of the press. I've found this to be very effective in increasing the amount of cider and the speed of doing so.
Overall, I have nothing but praise for the McIntosh press. Easy to set up, easy to use, easy to clean. I've had it in use for a couple of weeks so far and the only issues I've had is the yield has been so good that we had to buy another freezer to accommodate the cider and even then we've given away almost 20 gallons and there are still more apples to come!19 out of 19 people found this review helpful. By Kristine H. in VT on 10/21/2015 - Verified BuyerBought this last year and love it. The frame is compact but sturdy, and feels like you can put a lot of pressure on the fruit to squeeze out maximum juice. I also like that the optional grinder is separate from the press as one person can work the press while another grinds fruit for the next batch--it's more efficient having a separate unit.Moderator:
Yep, the MacIntosh will take a lot of pressure. Our presses have more steel in key areas than others do, to prevent damage under high loads. Keeping the forcing screw well-lubricated with food grade grease will ensure that the turning effort stays easy while producing that force, too. Thanks for your review Kristine, we appreciate it!16 out of 16 people found this review helpful. Did you?
By Garry L. in IN on 9/20/2017 - Verified BuyerI have used a couple of cider pressed a long time ago. I looked at our loaded apple trees and decided nobody could eat that much apple sauce or apple butter. Time to buy our own cider press. It was delivered in under a week. It looks great! Best thing, it works as great as it looks. Family loved the cider. Should have splurged and bought the apple grinder too. Well I guess there is Christmas coming up. If you plan on pressing more than a few gallons, this press is ideal. We love it so much, we are starting a new family and friends cider pressing day to share our delicious homemade cider and teach the young ones. The people at Pleasant Hill are so nice and helpful, I could not imagine ordering from anyone else.15 out of 15 people found this review helpful. Did you?
By Kearsarge Meadows, Warner NH on 10/29/2015 - Verified BuyerInstead of once again begging and borrowing other peoples' cider presses, we finally decided to SPLURGE and get our own. Pleasant Hill Grain had the best combination of photos, descriptions, and helpful people on the telephone. We bought this press from PHG, set it up and used it for several days. After pressing over 20 gallons of cider, we let our friends use it, too.
The MacIntosh press is rugged, beautiful and functional. We absolutely love it and are very happy we bought it.
Thank you Pleasant Hill Grain for your help!14 out of 14 people found this review helpful. Did you?
By Alicia S. in MN on 9/28/2017 - Verified BuyerThis press is large and heavy and made strong. I'm glad I went with the stainless 4 gal basket as it fits in my 2YO tall tub dishwasher bottom rack with no adjustments required.
We puree our apples in a Vitamix and Blendtec blender (after using those hand held corer/slicers to slice them up), and the juice flows freely until the last 1/3 of the basket, then the pressing commences! Even our 2.5 YO can do it.
Knocked off a star because I don't like how the upper press retainer on both sides of the basket are built to hold the arms in place--seems like they can be knocked loose and if I want to tighten them real tight, the turn knobs might break. So far, no problem being careful with the mechanisms.
Great purchase at the right price point for our needs. I have no regrets.
AFTER 3 MONTHS: no change, look forward to using it next year.Moderator:
Alicia, we get about zero requests for replacement knobs, so don't be too worried about breakage. But on the other hand, there's no need to waste extra effort trying to torque those knobs down, because that mechanism is 100% capable of doing its job with the knobs just moderately finger-tight. It's a good design that doesn't rely on the tightness of the knob itself to keep the yoke in place. Thanks for your review.12 out of 12 people found this review helpful. Did you?
By Dana K. in PA on 6/19/2016 - Verified BuyerI ended up with too many apples to juice and not enough to take to a commercial cider press. The MacIntosh Press was just right. It was well made, sturdy, easy to use and easy to clean. I was impressed with how much juice I got from the apples. I am looking forward to trying other fruit in it this year. I am hoping for a good grape harvest.10 out of 10 people found this review helpful. Did you?
By Mac's in OR on 8/11/2017 - Verified BuyerThis is the second press we purchased which tells you we love it. We press the apples of 20 apple trees so we wanted a second press to speed the process. The apple grinder we purchased last year was also the perfect tool that doubled our output! Don't miss out on adding the grinder to your process.9 out of 9 people found this review helpful. Did you?
