The machine appears to function better by using no screen at all. We purchased two screens and both sizes cause the machine to jam within 10 seconds. Using no screen was the best option. I also recommend the material being ground is completely dry. Any wet material also causes the machine to jam.

Moderator : Hammer mills certainly are for dry materials, always. We offer other kinds of grinders for wet and/or oily materials. 
And there's no reason not to run without a screen if the blades alone are giving you the grind you need.
