Lubricating the Acme Screw
It's important to keep the acme forcing screw well lubricated with food safe grease; this greatly reduces wear and turning effort, and dramatically increases maximum pressure and juice yield.
Apple Grinders |
![]() |
As with any press, to get good juice yield from apples you need to pulp them first. Proper pulping lets you get three to four times as much juice from the apples, compared to pressing the fruit whole. Our Maximizer™ apple grinder and Electric Apple Grinder are both excellent choices. |

The press works as expected. The only two drawbacks are:
1. The tripod design is unstable: when opening the yoke the whole thing tips over.
2. The stainless "basket" is not a basket, just a cylinder. It make is hard to remove the pulp.
It would be nice to have a basket with a handle.
For making wine I have used two other presses. Both were the wooden slat type. While these types are more traditional they also require lots of maintanance. Once the fruit acids get through the original finish its virtually impossible to keep the slats from turning black. Consiquently, requiring about 30 minutes or more of preparation time with every use. This stainless basket is a quick wash w/ a soapy spung and a rinse w/ the hose and I'm making juice. I like the cast steel parts of this press over the bent pipe version offered. My thought is the pipe parts will "work" during pressing and will eventually crack. There's no way these cast steel beams are going to ever crack. As a retired logging equipment/ hydrolic mechanic this is just my personal opinion. This is an outstanding value in a fruit press.
I've used this product once since setting it up and I'm very pleased with the Harvest Bounty press so far. It's built to last! I got the stainless steel cylinder and use it with a mesh bag and it performed very well. Clean up is very easy. I got the hand-crank grinder as well, and find that it likes the apples to be cut in half to process them well (whole apples get hung up easily) but that is not a problem. I would recommend this product to anyone.
The Harvest Bounty press is easy to set up and easy to clean. Effortless pressing and lots of fun. The only hard part is getting the apples off the trees!
Built very well and sturdy, which was key as we processed >50 lbs of pears for cider. The crank is very sturdy, and the mesh bags worked like a charm!
We are very pleased with the apple press, we were looking for something to press oil out of hemp we are processing and it works great!
We are very pleased with the quality and performance of the Apple Cider Press that we purchased.
We did apple cider and pear cider and both turned out very good.
Getting it all together or a bumper crop next year. Excited to put my new grinder and press this season to work out the kinks.
Works great and got a supply of product.
Pressing plate is still a little too small in diameter. Unless it is perfectly centered, the bag and pomace will squeeze out of the gap. Plan to cut my own plastic disk out of a cutting board and place it under the metal plate for a tight fit
