Gamma Lid, 12 inch, Yellow, Set of 3
This remarkably practical two-part gadget transforms a standard plastic bucket into a rugged, gasketed, resealable storage container that's both air-tight. Just snap the outer ring down onto your bucket. The threaded lid turns easily with molded-in grip bars. These lids are heavy duty for years and years of service. The ring has a polymer gasket where it sits against the lid of your bucket, and the threaded lid has another polymer gasket, giving the container an air-tight seal that excludes not only such freeloaders as mice and insects, but moisture too.
The Gamma Seal lid transforms an ordinary bucket into the ideal storage vault for an endless list of materials from grain and other foods to laundry products, pet food, tools, documents, silk ties, lawn and garden products, bait, seeds, oil, disaster supplies... and on and on. They also make lightweight, super-strong totes for camping gear. And did we mention that they're stackable? Our customers come back for more of these. (Make your life easier by ordering a few more the first time!)
All Gamma Lid plastics are food safe, including "heavy-metal-free" pigment in the colored lids, and all Gamma products are BPA-free. Gamma Seal lids do not include the bucket. Please note that color tint of plastic buckets can vary, so Gamma Lid colors may not perfectly match with the color of any given plastic buckets.
These 12" Gamma Seal lids fit 3-1/2 gallon or 5 gallon or 6 gallon buckets with standard top outside diameter of 11-3/4" to 12-1/8". If you want to use Gamma Seal Lids on buckets you already have, be sure your bucket tops have an outside diameter that falls within that range. (The buckets offered by Pleasant Hill Grain all have the proper top diameters to accept their respective size of Gamma Seal Lid.)
To install we recommend a large rubber mallet, or lay a 2x4 across the lid and strike with any heavy hammer. If a lid ring doesn't want to start on a bucket easily, submerging the ring or bucket rim (or both) in hot water will ease the connection.
Lids are sold in sets of three of each color. Colors include white, black, green, yellow, red, blue, and orange.
Note: If using oxygen absorbers in plastic buckets, you need to use standard hammer-on lids (not Gamma Lids). Gamma Lids are airtight, but are not designed to counteract the force of pressure that's created when all of the oxygen in the container is removed by oxygen absorbers. Once the standard lid is initially removed to start using the contents, a Gamma Lid can be used to re-seal the bucket against moisture, rodents and insects. A quality bucket and hammer-on gasketed lid will provide a fully adequate oxygen barrier for at least a couple years of storage. For even longer term oxygen-free storage, inside your buckets you can also use Mylar liner bags which, when heat-sealed shut around your food, will effectively block oxygen permeation for years and years.

The amazing Gamma Seal Lid is a tremendous product I'd recommend to everyone. We purchased a 6 gallon container of hard wheat berries. The lid that came on the container was difficult to remove since it is intended to seal and protect the product. With the Gamma Seal Lid my wife can easily open the still well-sealed container. Even with severe arthritis she can open the container anytime she needs to grind more wheat for more delicious bread.
I use these lids and the bucket to store grain. Works great. Have never had a problem and I've been using them for six years. Always order from Pleasant Hill.
These lids keep my fresh grains fresh and free of bugs, dust, and other bad elements for well over a year. My grains smell as fresh and vibrant as the day I received them, and my baked goods are always flavorful and tasty. I grind grains for everything I bake regularly and, therefore, depend on bulk storage. The different colored lids help me identify the content of each bucket without having to label anything. Fantastic pricing, impeccable service and delivery.
I love these buckets and having been using them for years. I store food, laundry detergent products, and even gardening products in them. The screw top lid makes opening and closing a breeze and they're stackable.
GAMMA lids are useful in identifying contents stored in the buckets. We use red for first aid supplies, yellow for grains, blue for salt, etc. They are not good for long term storage of grains that can go rancid over time unless the item is vacuum sealed or otherwise packaged (Mylar bags and oxygen absorbents) to keep out oxygen. Excellent for quick identification, access and protection of contents.
When we received our first order of hard white berries, in addition to the Gamma Seal Lid, it was very difficult to remove the well-sealed lid on the container. Replacing that with the Gamma Seal Lid was very easy. Now, with the easy-open twist off seal lid my wife has no trouble at all getting to the grain... to grind in the EXCELLENT KoMo Classic grinder we also bought from Pleasant Hill. What a fantastic company!
It does what it is supposed to do. It seals well, keeps things fresh and keeps things out. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is once it's on the bucket it's very hard to take off even with the wrench.
Love these lids. I have at least six lids that fit 5 or 6 gallon buckets. After using the lids for these buckets for years with our honey operation, I knew they are well worth the price.
These lids are amazing. They spin off and on easily, while keeping the contents of the pail as it should be. My garbanzo beans stay well protected in the pail, and allow me to spin "in and out" of the pail with ease when needed. (-: Love these lids.
This was actually easier to install than I anticipated from the reviews. I didn't need to hammer it on, I just used my body weight and a little muscle to get the outer ring on. Having a screwed on lid makes it very easy to get out the required grain and reseal for the next time.
