Glenwood Wine Press with GSAM

Tariffs could soon be imposed on three categories of PHG products: Fruit presses, fruit grinders, and corn shellers. Prices will jump sharply if this happens, so we encourage you not to wait once you’ve made a decision!

Grapes to press for wineThe Glenwood 36 liter wine press offers big capacity, holding 85 lbs. of grapes per load, and the Glenwood 20 liter press holds 48 lbs. of grapes. The Glenwood boasts the same very heavy duty construction as our Maximizer wine presses. The Glenwood frame is made of 3/16" wall-thickness rectangular steel tubing, basket options include strong oak or stainless steel, and the juice tray is stainless steel. Capacity by volume is 9.5 gallons (36 liters) or 5.3 gallons (20 liters).

This heavy duty wine press lets you efficiently create high down pressure that would quickly cause frame failure in lesser presses. (The forcing screw is 1" diameter on the 5.3 gallon model 9.5 gallon model.) Higher pressure is what gives you drier pulp and higher juice yields... more juice in less time.

Fast tip-away design: The cross beam of the Glenwood wine presses tips fully out of your way for full, convenient basket acess. Another time-saving feature on the oak basket model is the swing-away basket that speeds dumping of the spent fruit pulp.

Durability: The Glenwood wine presses are built to take many years of serious use, and it will continue to look great thanks to a tough powder coated finish. The Glenwood presses arrive assembled except for the simple operation of bolting legs on.

GSAM feature: The Glenwood fruit presses feature an integrated Grinder Swing Arm Mount (GSAM) that allows you to mount an optional apple grinder right on your press for maximum convenience and productivity. (The Maximizer apple grinder will fit the GSAM.) The GSAM provides you with a secure mount for the optional apple grinder. It puts the grinder just where you need it to rapidly pulverize apples for full juice extraction, and then just as easily it swings your grinder out of the way for pressing.

The press arrives in two boxs and requires minor assembly. The Maximizer grinder is not included.

The wood parts of the Glenwood presses arrive pre-sealed. For future maintenance, we offer EZ-DO food-safe wood sealer.

It's important to keep the acme forcing screw well lubricated with food safe grease; this greatly reduces wear and turning effort, and dramatically increases maximum pressure and juice yield.

If you want to press apples, pears, or other fruit that's fine-grained when pulped, we recommend ordering an accessory mesh basket-liner bag. Traditionally, disposable cheesecloth is used to keep finer fruit pulps from squirting out between the basket slats under high pressure, but our mesh bags are reusable and much more convenient.

We offer a wide selection of wine presses: Click to see our category page of all wine presses!

  • Heavy duty it is

No kidding, this press is BUILT. Apples don't give up their precious juice without some serious persuasion, and this baby is The Persuader. Can't recommend it highly enough. Get one, you'll like it.

  • Outstanding apple press, great buy.

Heavy duty press, very efficient to operate. Powdercoat finish is nice and tough. Keep the screw well lubed and it turns easy. I noted another user's comment on adding leg extensions. Glad that worked for them but I like having the handle height as-is. We use a shorter bucket from a bakery that cake frosting came in. It fits and holds as much juice as I'd want to handle at one time anyway. The auxiliary spinner knob on the shaft head makes retraction a breeze, good feature. The ordering process couldn't have been easier or better, PHG folks are nice to work with. A sound investment all the way around, very happy.

  • A Bargain For The Best
    By on - Verified Buyer
I am an engineer and very sensitive to the quality of engineering designs. However, without much experience using cider presses I could only analyze the available data and had to rely heavily on others with experience. I read many reviews and asked lots of questions. After narrowing the choices down to just a few, I contacted the suppliers to ask some final questions and discovered only one supplier (Pleasant Hill) had actually prepared their staff by giving them hands-on experience with the products they sell. I was fortunate to reach their service rep, Barbara. She was well informed and answered all my questions about their many cider presses to my satisfaction. However, she went one step further and, understanding my requirements, made a couple of very valuable suggestions based upon her product knowledge and personal experience. She recommended this (Glenwood) cider press over another in their inventory because of a couple of convenient features that we would benefit from. Ultimately, we took her recommendations and found the integrated speed knob on the press hub to be a fantastic feature. Also, the built-in mounting provision (GSAM) for the apple grinder was extremely useful because, in the end, we also purchased the Maximizer apple grinder. Barbara's insightful recommendations saved us much valuable time and effort. So why only 4 stars? A minor fabrication error... one of the 4 press legs was ~1/4" shorter and had to be shimmed to make the press sit flat.

  • Beet syrup requires high heat and high pressure
    By on - Verified Buyer
We're pressing beets for beet syrup, a process that requires high heat and pressure. With the high heat, wood basket slats of other units would swell to the point the gaps closed, stopping extraction. With its stainless basket, stainless tray along with all its other features, this press turns an arduous job into an awesome family time together. Thanks for a very superior product that no one will ever regret buying!

  • Nice Product, Easy to Use and Clean
    By on - Verified Buyer
Seems to be very well built and has good pressing ability. I only had a half bushel of apples left from last year to try out the press but it worked pretty well. The only complaint I have is that there is not enough clearance under the press for a container to catch the cider. I made 3 inch leg extensions and now I can get a 12 inch bucket under. I will give it a more thorough test this apple season.

  • Right tool for the job.
    By on - Verified Buyer
You can accomplish a lot with this press, but I wouldn't exactly call it "work". Between the generous capacity, quick tip-off yoke for loading/unloading, and nifty ratchet mechanics, everything just flows without much effort. Including the juice, lots of juice--with the pressure this bad boy develops, the spent pulp is very dry indeed. My couple of questions were answered expertly by a delightful young lady on the phone and my online order proceeded hitch-free. Shipping was shockingly rapid, packaging exemplary. I got the Maximizer apple grinder and recommend it as well, you won't get the juice yield you want without the right kind of pulverization and the Maximizer really gets that job done.

  • Well made product
    By on - Verified Buyer
Very well made. The legs need to be 6" longer to put a 5 gallon bucket under the drain. I also added a bolt on plate so I can use a 1/2" square drive instead of the furnished handle
