Expanded Ratings Descriptions
|R1||Very close scrutiny is required to tell that the item isn’t brand new. Working surfaces may show slight wear; for example, the bottom-inside of a Bosch mixer bowl may show swirl marks because Bosch mixer whips are designed to “float” against bottom of bowl. Non-working surfaces (cabinet, control panel) look essentially new. Carton may not be perfect.|
|R2||Typically has a small scuff or mark on a non-working surface like a mixer cabinet or the top of a pressure cooker lid.|
|FR||Mostly returned items which have been brought fully up to new-equipment performance specs at the factory.|
|D||Demonstration items have been operated briefly at Pleasant Hill Grain.|
|DIS||These items have never been used but we no longer sell them at full price in our store because it was discontinued by us or by the manufacturer.|
|U||Has had light use.|
|SDB||Has moderate damage or blemish on a non-working surface, such as a scratch or dent in the housing, or paint blemish.|
|NOS||A brand new item that isn't the newest model.|

By Michael R. in OK on 3/28/2019 - Verified BuyerWe were not ready to spend a lot for a new mill so when we found this attachment for our Bosch as an option we jumped on it. So far we have been pleased. It is easy to attach to the Bosch and we are impressed by its versatility in milling fatty seeds. It may not be a lifetime mill (we hope it is) but it fits our needs just fine for now.Moderator:
Michael, if you live another hundred years you may need to replace your mill sometime before that. :-) But we've found that Family Grain Mill components do last a very long time when used properly. The burrs are a wear part of course, but even they last quite a while, and replacements are available of course. Thanks for your review!3 out of 3 people found this review helpful. Did you?
By Richard in Texas on 1/5/2018 - Verified BuyerI actually have two of these, the one purchased from here on 10/15/12 and an older one. I own a Nutrimill but what I love the FGM for is grinding coarse corn meal from the field corn I buy on this website. The Nutrimill won't do it that coarse. Of course, it makes great flour also and is a joy for someone who may not have much kitchen space.1 person found this review helpful. Did you?
By Cheryl C. in TN on 4/14/2018 - Verified BuyerI already own FGM flaker and hand crank base. I wanted to order the grain mill. Free shipping and great prices prompted me to order from Pleasant Hill Grain. I placed my order. Then I realized I could get a replacement clamp from them. I went into my account and got on chat with them and they added the clamp to my order since it had not shipped yet and saved me shipping fee since the clamp was under $50. Thanks. Package arrived just as they said.4 out of 6 people found this review helpful. Did you?

By Darren G. in NJ on 3/19/2020 - Verified BuyerSo far have run 5 lbs of hard red winter wheat through the mill attached to a kitchen aid mixer. Used the finest setting as I was making flour for a bread maker. Grind was perfect and the loaf came out beautifully- but with a much better depth of flavour.
With the kitchen aid I tried a batch on stir and a batch on 2. Could not see much difference in how quickly it ground, but heat build up in the kitchen aid went from warm on stir to moderately hot on 2. So sticking with stir for now.
No regrets this far, and considering buying the handle and base for any power out-situations.Was this review helpful to you?
By Borderlass in MA on 2/1/2020 - Verified BuyerHaving acquired this in the midst of Yuletide baking, I immediately put this to use. I specifically purchased this for its ability to grind poppyseeds, and I'm happy to report it did not disappoint. I connected it to my Bosch Compact and found that the setting of "2" on my grain head dial did the trick. (My 65+ y. o. arm and shoulder were most grateful that I didn't have to use the non-electric grinder this year and that I actually could set up this new device without anything more than the directions that came with it!!) I can't wait to try it with some field dent corn as recommended by one of the reviewers- my next highly anticipated use. Incidentally, I found that a clean, dry pastry brush made the easy-to-clean grain head apparatus even easier to clean following the grinding of rice which is recommended following the grinding of poppyseeds.
Because this has eased a wearying task, my Hungarian husband will want his favorite "Poppyseed (Makos) Beigli" at Easter as well, and I'll make them gladly!!Was this review helpful to you?

By Joshua H. in IL on 7/16/2018 - Verified BuyerYou really can't beat the versatility of the family grain mill, especially when you consider the price. We had one and used it heavily for years. Finally, the wear and tear of twenty years wore down some of the plastic and we had to replace the grain head. The new one works great - just like the one we got twenty years ago! We use it with our Bosch Universal mixer, and it does a fantastic job.Was this review helpful to you?
By Linda P. in CO on 6/17/2018 - Verified BuyerI’ve had two Cereal Mill attachments for my Bosch Compact. They didn’t hold up well, and we couldn’t get the broken part replaced. I bought this Family Grain Mill and it works beautifully!! It looks very well made so I think this one will hold up better. I’m very happy with it. Three months later: I’m very happy with this cereal mill attachment. Once I figured out how to attach it to my Bosch Compact, it works VERY nicely. It has a very good range of settings from very fine to very coarse. Was this review helpful to you?
