Emile Henry Bread Cloche, Charcoal

Emile Henry enters the artisan bread baking category with the bread cloche. The ceramic bread cloche with its bell shaped cover allows you to proof your bread directly in the bread cloche. The lid also traps steam from the baking bread to create an environment similar to a steam-injected oven. The steam gives the bread a crunchy, chewy crust. Cloche measures 11 inches diameter.

The Emile Henry cloche is sized for a round loaf made with three cups of flour. Recipe and instruction booklet included. Like all Emile Henry products, the bread cloche is made of all natural materials.

An Emile Henry mixing bowl that matches the cloche is included.

This Emile Henry bread cloche is well worth the price. It's beautiful and the bread that comes out is perfect! The first one I ordered arrived damaged. Michelle worked with me to rectify the matter and a new one was sent out. Pleasant Hill Grain is a wonderful company to deal with, the personal attention is refreshing and your product choices are amazing! Thank you, Pleasant Hill!

  • Updated review: Still like & recommend

I've been making my own bread for a number of years and have never tried a cloche. I've been debating with myself for the past year as to whether I wanted to spend the money on something I may or may not like and/or use enough to justify the cost. I'm glad I bought it. I have used it twice now, once for whole wheat bread and once for raisin swirl bread. It did well with both, so I guess I have to say this a keeper and it will get a lot of use. Next I'll probably buy the covered loaf pan as I make bread a couple of times a week.

Review-Update: I still like this cloche and use it frequently, would recommend it.
