Clearance: Country Estate Press 8 Gallon + Wood Basket
This is an R1 clearance item. Please check the tables below to see how we rate our clearance items.
Tariffs could soon be imposed on three categories of PHG products: Fruit presses, fruit grinders, and corn shellers. Prices will jump sharply if this happens, so we encourage you not to wait once you’ve made a decision!
Our Country Estate apple cider press produces high juice yields from your apples, grapes, pears and other fruit. Its strong steel handle creates high pressing force with low effort, and it's built strong for years of enjoyable and reliable service.
The ratchet head on the Country Estate press travels on a stationary, center-mounted screw. The square base with a heavy duty leg at each of the four corners provides exceptional stability for steady pressing.
To load the press, start by lining the pressing basket with a mesh liner bag (not included; available below). Fill the lined basket with pulped apples, grapes or other fruit. Lap the bag top across the top of the fruit, and place the split pressing plate halves on top of the fruit. Place alternating pairs of hardwood blocks over the pressing plate, and spin the ratchet head down onto the blocks. Begin ratcheting downward to press juice from your fruit.
When juice flow becomes negligible, the pressing cycle is done. After reversing the two ratchet directional pins on top of the ratchet head, continued ratcheting will move the head back up the shaft. Empty and reload the basket, and you're ready for another batch!
The juice pan of the Country Estate press is made of stainless steel, and powder coating of steel parts ensures a lasting finish.
“This was a great experience from beginning to end, items were exactly as advertised and they were shipped very quickly. Will definitely purchase from Pleasant Hill Grain again. Perfect!”

The wood parts of the Country Estate apple cider press arrive pre-sealed. For future maintenance, we have an excellent coating product available below..
We recommend ordering an accessory mesh basket-liner bag to use with the press. Traditionally, disposable cheesecloth is used to keep finer fruit pulps from squirting out between the basket slats under high pressure, but our mesh bags are reusable and much more convenient.
It's important to keep the acme forcing screw well lubricated with food safe grease; this greatly reduces wear and turning effort, and dramatically increases maximum pressure and juice yield.
As with any press, to get good juice yield from apples you need to pulp them first. Proper pulping lets you get three to four times as much juice from the apples, compared to pressing the fruit whole.
We offer a wide selection of apple presses:!

Expanded Ratings Descriptions
|R1||Very close scrutiny is required to tell that the item isn’t brand new. Working surfaces may show slight wear; for example, the bottom-inside of a Bosch mixer bowl may show swirl marks because Bosch mixer whips are designed to “float” against bottom of bowl. Non-working surfaces (cabinet, control panel) look essentially new. Carton may not be perfect.|
|R2||Typically has a small scuff or mark on a non-working surface like a mixer cabinet or the top of a pressure cooker lid.|
|FR||Mostly returned items which have been brought fully up to new-equipment performance specs at the factory.|
|D||Demonstration items have been operated briefly at Pleasant Hill Grain.|
|DIS||These items have never been used but we no longer sell them at full price in our store because it was discontinued by us or by the manufacturer.|
|U||Has had light use.|
|SDB||Has moderate damage or blemish on a non-working surface, such as a scratch or dent in the housing, or paint blemish.|
|NOS||A brand new item that isn't the newest model.|

By Michael D. in PA on 9/22/2018 - Verified BuyerMy order arrived as promised I believe it was on the third day after I ordered it. PHG had an issue with my billing address and called numerous times trying to get ahold of me to iron out the details I was very surprised but pleased with their dedication to getting my order delivered. Thank you again. I had ordered the press after purchasing 100 lbs of Marechal Foch grapes since then I have pressed the young wine and extracted the juice/wine. During the pressing process I did not have any issues with the press. I did order food grade grease when I purchased the press, before using the press i applied a moderate amount to the acme screw as well on any contacting metal surfaces. Since the ratchet is painted it does have a small amount of paint that will flake off during the first use, the grease that I applied contained all of it and I simply wiped it off after. This is the first fruit press I ever used and overall it was easy and fun. A things to note the assembly time took me about 5 minutes, it took me longer to get tools out of my shed. Also you will need a wrench or pliers that can open to about 1-3/16". I made a slight modification to my press, I added a piece of 1 inch I. D. flexible tubing with a S. S. hose clamp, in case you don't have bucket that will fit under the spout. I placed my press on my porch with a sheet of plywood screwed to the legs and ran the 1in tubing into a pail down below. Worked well and clean up was less than 10 mins.

By Samuel B. in WI on 10/28/2017 - Verified BuyerI was surprised how fast I received my order. Even more surprised after assembling the unit to see the quality and workmanship in the finished product. I'm very satisfied with my purchase and would recommend your company to all my friends. I can't wait for the fruit to ripen so it can be used.1 out of 4 people found this review helpful. Did you?
By Clarence. in NE on 10/6/2019 - Verified BuyerOrder came fast and well packaged. Nice product. Assembly instructions would have been nice. Hand cranking was a bit too slow for my taste, so i ended up rigging a hydraulic jack that is much faster and powerful. Disappointed in my self for not just buying a pressing basket. Used it for pressing Aronia berries and it makes great tasting cider. It isn't yielding a lot of juice, but i have no experience with other juicing methods. Was this review helpful to you?
