Bread For Life, Volume 1
The Bread for Lifecookbooks are great for those with Ankarsrum (formerly Electrolux) mixers because the recipes in it were developed by author Beth Holland using the Ankarsrum mixer. They’re full of solid, practical recipes, and the directions are tailor-made for your Ankarsrum.
Volume 1 is 52 pages with 168 recipes and has a stapled binding. Most are the simple, basic sort of recipes you need for everyday living. Yeast and quick breads, desserts, and main dishes are among its eight sections. One special note: The basic bread recipe isn’t so-labeled in the table of contents; it’s at the top of page 9, titled "Breads and Rolls."
Volume 2 is 184 pages with 250 recipes and has a spiral binding. This volume adds more basics, and also ventures into greater creativity. There are many more yeast breads, from "Linda's Bread" (basic whole grain) to "Maple Nut Twist Coffee Cake" and "Zesty Tomato Pesto" and "Toasted Pecan Date Bread." Nine recipe sections cover Sourdough as well as Cereals, Main Dishes, Hor D'oeuvres & Toppings, and many more.
Volume 3 is 200 pages with over 300 recipes including variations, and has a spiral binding. This is Beth's newest and largest work. It's organized by themes, making each section a mini cookbook of its own.

I'm a passionate bread maker and am really enjoying these cookbooks. They are adorable and I wouldn't be without them! My husband gifted me with this set in hopes of being an aid in learning how to use our Ankarsrum stand mixer that we purchased almost one year ago. We were eager to learn about milling our own grains into fresh flour and recently we invested in a beautiful KoMo grain mill from PHG. So far, I've made quite a few of the recipes and each was wonderful. While it's not detailed in instructing you "how" to use the Swedish mixer, it certainly gives you the important fundamentals and basics of whole grain baking that are vital to laying a good foundation for making this lifestyle change in your health. Online videos and blogs and practice have helped me navigate this mixer and after a while it becomes second nature; I'm a visual artist so "visual learning" is the best way for me to learn, absorb and catch onto something new. My favorite thing about this set is that the author is very kind, informative, passionate about health and wellness and gives you lots of ideas on how to incorporate quality family/friend gatherings using food--the "tea party" section is just darling! I hope to update this review as I try out more recipes in the future. Altogether, this cookbook set would make lovely bridal shower, holiday, birthday, anniversary, etc. gifts for anyone who is curious (or even proficient) in the switch to whole grain baking! There is always something new to learn. : )
Not an extensive cookbook, basically only a few recipes with options to add to that whole grain recipe. Has little value or insight in using the Ankarsrum mixer which is what I was led to believe it offered. Too much preaching on how you should use only their recommended ingredients for my tastes. Wouldn't recommend it for anyone.
We love making bread from fresh ground wheat, kamut and other bread grains and when we purchased our Ankarsrum Mixer, we also saw the Bread of Life recipe books and after looking at the descriptions of the books decided they would be a good purchase to enjoy with the new mixer. We haven't yet used a recipe from the books but are looking forward to trying a recipe. Have had time to browse all 3 books and there are some really great looking recipes.

Small cookbook with good ideas and recipes. I thought it would be more specific to the Ankarsrum mixer but as it turns out the mixer is very easy to use so no special recipes needed.
I love all the helpful educational information as well as the recipes!
