The Stainless Steel Bowl (MUZ6SB4) for the Bosch Universal Plus mixer (also fits the earlier Bosch Universal Classic mixer) has a polypropylene center drive shaft column, enabling the Universal's standard wire whisks and BreadMaster dough hook (as well as the accessory cookie paddles) to be used in it. This bowl is sold without dough hook, whip drive or whisks, and those pieces from the Universal mixer's standard plastic bowl (new or older models) fit onto this bowl.
This bowl fits on the Universal mixer's low speed drive (the same place the standard plastic bowl mounts). Because it was originally designed for the Universal Classic mixer, when it's used on the newer Universal Plus mixer this bowl does not lock onto the mixer base and will wobble just a little with heavier loads, but this doesn't affect operation.
The drive shaft of this stainless bowl detaches in seconds from below for quick, easy cleanup.
Capacity is 6.5 quarts (approx. 15 lbs. of dough).
The accessory bowl scraper should not be used with this bowl because the fit of the scrapers is too tight and could lead to excessive loading on the motor and transmission.
Splash ring note: This bowl has four lugs at the top of the bowl for attachment of the splash ring, which means if you have the older "Classic" model Universal mixer (model 6622 or 6610) this bowl will work on your mixer, but you'll need to order a newer-model four-pin splash ring for use with this bowl. The four-pin splash ring comes standard with the Bosch Universal Plus mixer. The splash ring that comes with the "Classic" Bosch models has three pins, rather than four.
It's important to note that even when you use the correct splash ring with this bowl, while the ring will fit over the bowl's four pins, the ring will not lock into place at all. It will work fine that way with all but the largest loads, but if you have a Universal Plus mixer and want a stainless bowl with locking-on lid, you'll want to instead order Bosch bowl MUZ6ER2; that bowl locks onto the base of the Universal Plus mixer and comes with its own splash ring that locks onto the bowl. (The MUZ6ER2 bowl does not fit the older Classic model of the Universal mixer.)
